Planning Ministry launches virtual consultative sessions to discuss the quantitative targets of Egypt's Vision 2030 indicators

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held five virtual consultation sessions during the period from May 19 to May 25, with a group of prominent experts in various fields to discuss the quantitative targets of the indicators of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

These sessions were held in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Mona Essam, Director of the Ministry's Sustainable Development Unit, and Dr. Reham Rizk, Director of the Ministry's Modeling Unit.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the National Agenda: Egypt's Vision 2030 is a national version of the UN goals that are in line with the 17 goals of the United Nations.


She added that Egypt's Vision 2030 is also consistent with Africa's Agenda 2063, following up that it represents a living document that is constantly updated according to changes at the local, regional and international levels.



 El-Said referred to the launch of the economic reform program after the launch of Egypt's Vision 2030, as well as the changes related to the unprecedented regional and international developments and then the Corona pandemic, stressing that with these developments, the vision is updated.


Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, discussed the effort made concerning modernizing Egypt Vision 2030.

"There are several observations that have been taken into account when looking at some different modern international visions, including the size of the document and the division of the vision, which is currently consistent with the development of the modern vision, which includes not only strategic goals but a good logical division,” Kamali said.


Kamali referred to the participatory effort undertaken by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with all ministries and all stakeholders from the private sector and civil society, in updating Egypt’s Vision 2030.



Kamali added that about 70 experts who submitted papers were used to provide an updated formulation of the strategy, until the Corona pandemic came, which required a reformulation of the vision, explaining that the vision includes goals, governing principles, and enablers that are related to each other, with a focus on the main indicators in the vision.

For its part, Dr. Mona Essam, Director of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the updated version of Egypt’s Vision 2030, explaining that the vision includes governing principles that represent the pillars of the strategy, and the steps taken by Egypt towards 2030 maintain these principles.


On her part, Dr. Reham Rizk, Director of the Modeling Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, said that some targets have been identified through the implementation of two scenarios, the first of which is the continuation of the situation without interference.

Regarding the second scenario, Rizk said that it is about government intervention to improve the performance of indicators as well as a comparison with low-middle income countries and countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
