16 May 2023

General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects Ambassador Hisham Badr met recently with the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Professor Ibrahim El Dukhiri, and the delegation accompanying him to look for ways of enhancing cooperation between the initiative and the AOAD in many fields.

Amb. Hisham Badr stressed the initiative’s eagerness, along with AOAD, to execute their open vision and strategic direction. He also stressed the consolidation of cooperation between the two parties in many areas that serve food security and agricultural development, especially climate change issues.

They also discussed issues related to agriculture, and the pillars of sustainable development, supply chains, and intra-trade, in addition to the axis of entrepreneurship and the integration of women and youth into society.

Badr explained that the initiative has several gains represented in the localization of sustainable development goals (SDGs), the preparation of a database for smart green projects at the governorate level, building the capacities of cadres in the governorates, along with the intelligent partnership between local, national and international bodies, and the empowerment of many sectors with the initiative such as the women and youth sector, the private sector and civil society, as well as maximizing the revenue resulting from the partnership with all governorates to raise awareness of climate change.

During the meeting, Badr confirmed that the goal is to support the initiative's growth through smart partnerships with different entities. This is to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

In a later discussion, he explained that the industry and its team are exerting the maximum amount of power to spread the idea of green smart projects across the nation. This is done by raising awareness about climate change and linking it to all areas of life and sectors.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Ibrahim El Dukhiri pledged to offer all the necessary support to the initiative to consolidate cooperation and partnership with the organization. He also expressed his faith in the initiative’s team’s ability to achieve more progress in the green smart projects sector.

Finally, he stressed the importance of innovation and environmental technology for achieving the SDGs and improving quality of life.

For the initiative's projects to be implemented successfully, the two parties agreed to communicate regularly and cooperate.

They also agreed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable development and cooperate at the COP-28 conference in the United Arab Emirates.

It is pertinent to note that applications for the second round of the National Initiative for Green Smart Projects have been open since last April. This is done via the initiative’s website through the following link: https://www.sgg.eg/
