The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects launches training courses in various Egyptian governorates, starting in mid-May

The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects held a workshop to train trainers "TOT" on project evaluation mechanisms and prepare them to be present in the governorates and assist projects interested in participating, as well as spreading the idea of sustainability and green and smart projects.

The workshop witnessed the presence of Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator of the initiative and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, and Nermin Sadek, Executive Director of the initiative.

During his speech, Ambassador Hisham Badr urged the trainers to continue their passion to complement what was done in the first phase of the initiative. He also stressed the need to work on the ground to achieve the initiative's goals.

Badr referred to the participation of experts from United Nations organizations and international bodies on project evaluation committees. Badr explained the importance of following accurate criteria in the process of evaluating projects to reduce the gap in the selection of participating projects.

Badr also touched on the importance of the database produced by the initiative, as it is one of the most important lessons learned from the initiative, as it represents a base for green and smart projects chosen by citizens to reflect their needs and interests, in a way that attracts investors to benefit from that base.

Badr added that one of the reasons for the success of the initiative is that it provides a means to provide a source of income for citizens, as it does not work on environmental projects only, but represents investment opportunities and offers a different approach to climate and technological projects that can provide a stable income for citizens.

For his part, Engineer Khaled Mostafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, stressed the importance of concerted efforts and participation among all stakeholders to complete the successes and positives achieved in the first phase of the initiative and to develop its use in the following stages.

Mostafa went on to explain that the role of those in charge of the initiative includes helping the participants to take advantage of opportunities and develop their projects to reach the largest number of participating projects and then transform them into profitable projects and achieve personal benefit for the participants, which contributes to improving their economic conditions.

Mostafa also continued that sustainability and persistence represent the biggest challenge and true test of the current session. This continuity is the strongest evidence that it is not only aiming at COP-27 but practical solutions.
