The Minister of Planning and Economic Development Heads to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Take Part in the Islamic Bank for Development’s Annual Meetings

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development and the Egyptian Governor at the Islamic Bank for Development Dr. Hala El-Said headed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the annual meetings of the bank group held during the period of May 10-13, in Jeddah under the slogan “Partnerships to Fend off Crisis,” shedding light on the importance of cooperation in addressing challenges facing the 57 member countries of the Islamic Bank for Development from 4 different continents.
Dr. Hala El-Said confirmed Egypt’s appreciation of the fruitful cooperation and development partnership with the bank’s group which has been taking place for over five decades. She also praised the integrated development example adopted by the Islamic bank for Development in executing the partnership strategy with the member states. Furthermore, she clarified that the bank is eager to incorporate stakeholders from the government, the private sector, civil society organizations, research centers, and universities. She also pointed out the bank’s role in creating value chains, and its important role in encouraging sectors where member states hold a competitive edge, clarifying that this partnership methodology is what the Egyptian state has been working hard to follow, as it is the most convenient nationally, regionally, and internationally in order to achieve integrated sustainable development.
The Islaimic Bank for Development’s annual meetings are considered as a platform for international leaders, policy makers, and development workers along with other stakeholders to meet and discuss the critical issues of development. Moreover, this year’s meetings will also include a private sector forum hosted by the entities of the Islamic Bank for Development group which include the Islamic Institution for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit, the International Trade Finance Cooperation, the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector aiming to create a unique communication platform to create trade relationships, exploring investment and trade opportunities offered by member states. The four-day meetings will include high-level plenary sessions, interactive panels, technical sessions and side events covering a wide range of topics, including poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, health, education, food security, climate change and innovation.
Finally, The annual meetings will also provide opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange and participation with global leaders and experts in the field of development, while providing spaces for presenting the group's innovative projects and initiatives, as well as the achievements and success stories of its member countries. A variety of stakeholders will be attending; Including ministers from the 57 member states of the group, senior government officials, heads of international organizations, and representatives from the private sector, civil society, academia, and the media.
