Egypt’s Planning Minister, Head of Honeywell North Africa discuss ways to enhance sustainability in industries

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development who is acting also as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) held a Meeting with Mr. Khaled Hashem, President of Honeywell North Africa.
The meeting aimed to discuss ways of collaborating to drive sustainability in current industries.
During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the Ministry's main areas of work and projects in the areas of digital transformation, training and efficiency enhancement, as well as the portfolio of sustainable development and voluntary national reports issued by Egypt over the past years.
She further highlighted VNRs that are being prepared on the settlement of SDGs as well as the number of initiatives launched by the Ministry during Cop27 that took place in Sharm el-Sheikh last November.
These initiatives include The “Decent Life for Africa resilient to climate change", which aims to improve the quality of life in 30% of Africa's villages and rural areas.
Moreover, the ministry’s initiatives include the "Friends of Greening National Investment Plans initiative in Africa and Developing Countries".
In the same context, El-Said asserted gov’t ‘s keenness to cooperate with the private sector to achieve the goals of the state ownership policy document.
For his part, Khaled Hashim, President of Honeywell North Africa said that the company has multiple projects with the Egyptian government in the files of smart cities, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The company also has a number of projects in the fields of recycling, digital transformation and biofuels, according to Hashim.
He further explained that the company plans to expand its cooperation with the Egyptian government in the fields of training, efficiency upgrading and improving sustainable development indicators.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD),Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister for Sustainable Development.
