Planning Ministry announces the start of governorate registration for the 2nd round of 'The National Initiative for Green Smart Projects

Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the start of the registration of the various governorates in the second round of the 'National Initiative for Green Smart Projects.
Submissions were opened on the first of April and will continue to open until the end of May 2023 through the website www.sgg.eg.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, confirmed that the different governorates' interest in participating in the initiative's second round reflects the extent of interest and awareness of climate change issues and challenges.
El-Said pointed out the importance of stimulating various sectors to find intelligent solutions to societal problems using clean technology while integrating all segments of society in finding solutions to climate and environmental change challenges. This is to create a state of national awareness and solidarity to reduce climate change effects.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, the United Nations Special Envoy for Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He is also Chairman of the Arbitration Committee for innovative green projects.
Mahmoud Mohieldin explained that the initiative is one of the strongest initiatives on the scene regarding climate change and environmental challenges. He noted that the second round of the initiative came based on the success achieved by the first round, in which more than 6,200 projects from different governorates participated.
Ambassador Hisham Badr, the general coordinator of the initiative, indicated that there is continuous coordination between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the rest of the concerned ministries and the various governorates to produce the best results for the various projects that provide Egyptian solutions to the problems of climate change.
It includes the conditions for project participation in the initiative: The project should be within the geographical scope of the governorate, has already been implemented and has results supported by evidence, and include a technological component and a component related to environmental sustainability (green).
An introductory seminar for the initiative is scheduled to be held - virtually - on Monday, corresponding to April 10, in the presence of representatives of the various governorates, including citizens and workers in each governorate, and an introductory training program will be held - virtually - for members of the executive committees in the governorates on Wednesday, corresponding to April 12.
