The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Announces the Citizen Investment Plan 2022/23 for El-Gharbeya Governorate

Dr. Hala El-Said: EGP 3.9 billion to execute 356 developmental projects in El-Gharbeya governorate according to the 2022/23 plan with an 8% increase compared to the previous year.
The Minister of Planning and Economic Development showcased, in a report issued on her behalf, the features of the citizen investment plan for El-Gharbeya governorate for the year 2022/23; this comes as part of the habit of announcing the citizen investment plan of all governorates for the fourth consecutive year aiming to raise awareness amongst citizens regarding the priorities and directives f the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 2022/23, and its role in realizing the Egypt Vision 2030.
The Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala El-Said stressed that civil participation is the main guarantee to root the sustainable development goals (SDGs) at the local level, to achieve balanced regional development, and to mend the development gap between the different governorates in accordance with the Egypt Vision 2030, and the 17thSDG, “Partnership For The Goals.”
Dr. El-Said added that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development is eager to engage citizens in the different stages of the development process, which starts with planning then monitoring and evaluation, and always works to take swift steps toward creating the proper environment to support this participation either through detailed data related to the yearly sustainable development plans, issuing routine monitoring reports, suggested initiatives, priority projects in the framework of a wholesome integrated participatory approach in accordance to the principle, “no man left behind.”
Regarding El-Gharbeya’s citizen investment plan, Dr. El-Said clarified that the number of development projects in the governorate reached 236 projects, with a public investment value of EGP 3.9 billion with an increase of 8% compared to the previous year, other than the projects of the Decent Life initiative aiming to develop the Egyptian countryside.
Concerning the sectoral division of public investment directed towards El-Gharbeya governorate for the 2022/23 plan, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to direct EGP 927.5 million towards the higher education and scientific research sector with a 24% rate, EGP 644 million for the local development sector with 16%, EGP 416 million for the housing sector with 11%, EGP 323.7 million for the pre-university education sector with 8%, EGP 200 million for the transportation sector with 5%, and EGP 1.4 billion for other sectors with a 36% rate.
The report clarified that there are 54 villages targeted by the first phase of the Decent life initiative in El-Gharbeya governorate, with 430 thousand beneficiaries. The most important developmental projects of the initiative, in El Gharbeya, are the construction of 10 residential buildings, 6 social units, 9 agriculture service units, 8 ambulance points, 25 clinics, 459 classrooms, 49 schools, 4 family development centers, 25 potable water stations, 43 sanitation projects, 3 water distillation stations, 53 fiber optic network towers, 30 youth centers, 9 government service complexes, 27 post offices, 9 police stations, 8 markets, 5 public transportation hubs, 8 forestations, lining canals (122 km long), paving roads (135 km long), building 19 irrigation bridges, and 54 electricity projects.
The report also indicated that the 2022/23 plan’s development goals for the local development sector in El-Gharbeya governorate is represented in paving local roads worth EGP 254.7 million, with 190 projects in the sector, along with executing 62 projects in the housing services sector and 20 projects in the higher education and scientific research sector.
