NIGSD Executive Director participates in the CEPA Committee's 22nd session

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) and member of The United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) participated in the 22nd session of the Committee, entitled "Urgently transforming institutions for a greener, more inclusive, and more resilient world."
In this context, Dr. Sherifa Sherif stated that she participated with several experts in discussing two working papers. The first paper discussed the importance of training, development, and capacity building for various human cadres.
Sherif noted that the second paper addressed "promoting effective participatory governance in support of sustainable development goals". The paper discusses the importance of participation, which is at the heart of the 2030 Sustainable Development Programme.
Meanwhile, the paper addresses the participation of various kinds, integrating different groups into society in activities involving women, young people, and determined people. It also explains ways of interaction and participation, and the main problems and constraints facing public participation. The paper concludes with several recommendations to achieve a better public participation model.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif was appointed in 2021 as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council's Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) of 24 experts representing several different States for four years.
She is considered the first Egyptian appointed to this committee. The committee meets every year to discuss issues and policy papers on governance and various topics. The Committee submits its recommendations to the Secretary-General of the United Nations for circulation to the Member States for implementation.
