28 March 2023
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a report on cooperation with the Administrative Prosecution Authority to conduct electronic (E-Voting) elections for many entities.
The issuance of the report came within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry and the Administrative Prosecution Authority, which resulted in the holding of the first elections under the authority’s supervision with the electronic voting system in the Arab Republic of Egypt in several parties, including the elections of the Administrative Prosecution Authority Club, the Syndicate of Musical Professions, the Wafd Party, and the Board of Directors of the Association for Hajj and Umrah for members of the Administrative Prosecution, the Board of Directors of the Insurance Fund for Employees of Judicial Bodies and Assisting Entities (9% fund), and the Board of Directors of the Ahmed Orabi Association.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, confirmed that the electronic voting procedure comes within the framework of fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and the Administrative Prosecution Authority, which aims to develop the information infrastructure and services provided by the Administrative Prosecution Authority to reach the development of means and technologies that keep pace with rapid technological development and build an integrated information society.
For his part, Engineer Ashraf Abdel Hafeez, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Digital Transformation Affairs, explained that it was agreed to use modern electronic technologies that automate the electoral system work cycle within the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Abdel Hafeez indicated that the Ministry of Planning provided the Administrative Prosecution Authority with full technical support, equipment, devices, connectivity, and hosting lines necessary to operate the system.
Notably, voting takes place using computers equipped with touch screens. It replaces paper and traditional ballots.
The system relies on electronic coding technology, especially for sorting and counting votes. This guarantees the integrity of the procedures and the accuracy of the results.
