Planning Ministry issues the sixth issue of the "Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates" report

526 development projects in Fayoum, for EGP 2.7 billion, in 6 sectors: says Hala El-SaidThe Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued the sixth issue of the “Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates” report during (18 / 2019- 19/2020) for Fayoum Governorate.The report includes an inventory of the projects that were fully completed during the same period and linking them to the sustainable development goals.
In this context, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development indicated the completion of the implementation of 526 development projects, for EGP 2.7 billion, in 6 sectors: education, health, irrigation, housing, electricity, and local development.
The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that concerning the state’s efforts to achieve the second goal of the sustainable development goals: “eradicating hunger, providing food security and improved nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture,” 28 projects in the water resources and irrigation sector have been completed, for EGP 189 million, including the new Al-Bats pumping station (12 000 feddans benefit from it), the Wadi Al-Rayan lift station, the replacement and renewal of the covered drainage networks in Abu Jandeer Al-Thani area, and the development of the waterways in Sila (the first region).
Regarding the third goal: “Ensuring a healthy life and promoting the well-being of all at all ages,” the replacement and renewal of the family health unit in the villages of Howeidi and Barishah have been completed, at a cost of about EGP 8 million.
The comprehensive survey of local community characteristics, issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, indicates an increase in the percentage of villages with a health unit from 74.2% in 2015 to 77.9% in 2020.
The ministry’s report also indicated that concerning the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Ensuring quality education that is equitable and inclusive of all and promotes learning opportunities throughout life for all.” 74 projects in the pre-university education sector were completed, for EGP 351 million, which resulted in the establishment and replacement of and the expansion of 994 classrooms in all educational levels.
The percentage of villages with a governmental primary and preparatory school increased from 87.7% in 2015 to 98.2% in 2020, and the percentage of villages with a governmental preparatory school increased from 84.7% in 2015 to 86.5% in 2020.
Within the framework of achieving the sixth goal: “Ensure the availability of drinking water and sanitation for all and manage it sustainably,” 10 projects for drinking water and sanitation have been implemented, for 564 million pounds, including the Qasr Al-Basil / Al-Gharq water line (benefiting 90,000 citizens) Sanhour sewage treatment plant (capacity 6 000 m3 / day), Damascene sewage treatment plant (capacity 10 000 m3 / day), and al-Azab treatment plant (capacity 10,000 m3 / day).
Regarding the progress made in achieving the seventh goal: “Ensuring universal access to modern, regular and sustainable energy services at an affordable cost,” the ministry's report indicated that the implementation of 14 projects in the electricity and renewable energy sector had been completed, at a cost of about EGP 330 million, most notably the Damo / Sink line. Al-Sultani will visit the new Fayoum transformer station with a length of 5 km, the Fayoum transformer station (capacity 120 MVA), and the Tamiya transformer station (capacity 506 MVA).
52 projects were also completed within the local development programs (electricity and lighting), for EGP 394 million, which resulted in the installation of 2,764 lighting poles, 10 transformers and electricity kiosks, and 22,000 lamps and lighting fixtures.
The report pointed out that concerning the ninth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Establishing resilient infrastructure, stimulating inclusive sustainable industrialization and encouraging innovation,” 63 projects within the local development programs (paving roads, bridges, and tunnels) were completed, at a cost. About EGP 400 million resulted in the paving and upgrading of roads with a length of 76.7 km, and the construction, replacement, and renewal of 20 bridges.
The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that the cost of the completed projects in the program of paving roads, bridges, and tunnels achieved a growth rate of 9.5% in (19/2020) compared to (18/2019).
In the same context, and concerning the eleventh goal of "making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable", the implementation of 1248 social housing units, 3 markets, commercial and service centers in the new Fayoum city, and 123 projects within the development programs were completed. Local (security, traffic, and firefighting, supporting the needs of local units), for EGP 81.5 million, resulted in the establishment and development of 5 fire points in the villages (Al-Agamiyin, Tunis, Tatoun, Sila, and Shawashna), in addition to developing 53 local units, and installing monitoring units in the streets and the main fields.
Concerning the thirteenth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Taking urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts”, the report indicated that 157 projects within the local development programs (improving the environment) have been implemented, for EGP 168 million, resulting in the supply of 66 hygiene equipment. (Sweeping cars, loaders, dumpers), and covering canals and drains of 1.3 km long.
