Completion of the implementation of 855 development projects in Aswan Governorate, for EGP 7.2 billion: says El-Said
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued the fifth issue of the “Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates” report during the years (18 / 2019- 19/2020), which includes an inventory of the projects that were fully completed during the same period, and linking them to the sustainable development goals.In this context, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development indicated that the fifth issue of the “Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates” report included an inventory of the projects that were completed in the Aswan governorate, during the years (18 / 2019- 19/2020).“855 projects have been completed, with a total investment cost estimated at EGP 7.2 billion, in 7 sectors (education, health, irrigation, housing, electricity, transportation, and local development,” El-Said said. Concerning the state’s efforts to achieve the second goal of the sustainable development goals: “Eradicating hunger, providing food security and improved nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture,” the report indicated that 70 projects in the water resources and irrigation sector had been completed, for EGP 955 million.Regarding the third goal: "Ensuring a healthy life and promoting the well-being of all at all ages", the development of the Aswan Child Care Unit and the Naga Hilal Health Unit in Edfu Center have been completed, at EGP 4 million for the two projects. The comprehensive survey of local community characteristics, issued by The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), indicates an increase in the percentage of villages with a health unit from 73.7% in 2015 to 76.6% in 2020.As for the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Ensure a quality education that is equitable and inclusive and promotes learning opportunities throughout life for all.” 32 projects were completed in the pre-university education sector, at a cost of about EGP 210 million, which resulted in the creation, replacement, and expansion of 408 classrooms in various classes. The report indicated that the number of chapters that were established replaced and expanded achieved a growth rate of 36% in the year (19/2020), compared to the year (18/2019).The percentage of villages with a governmental primary and preparatory school increased from 72.2% in 2015 to 93.5% in 2020, and the percentage of villages with a governmental preparatory school increased from 71.4% in 2015 to 80.6% in 2020.Within the framework of achieving the sixth goal: “Ensure the availability of drinking water and sanitation for all and manage it sustainably,” 10 projects in the sanitation sector have been implemented, for EGP 604 million, including Al-Mwaisat sanitation (capacity of 4.500 m3 / day) and sanitation Mahamid sanitation (capacity 3 thousand m3 / day), Al Radhisa drainage (capacity 12/8 m3 / day), and Kaju drainage (capacity 3000 m3 / day).Concerning the progress made in achieving the seventh goal: “Ensure universal access to modern, regular and sustainable energy services at an affordable cost.” The report states that 36 projects in the electricity and renewable energy sector have been completed, for EGP 3.7 billion, the most important of which is the Benban project to generate electricity from solar energy. , a photovoltaic cell station in Kom Ombo with a capacity of 26 megawatts, and a dual antenna line Toshka 2 / Wadi Halfa, with a length of 103 km.The implementation of 230 projects within the local development programs (electricity and lighting), at a cost of about EGP 84 million, resulted in the installation of 6,593 poles (various efforts) and solar energy poles, the laying of cables length of 127 km, the provision of 2,500 lighting searchlights, 13 electrical transformers, and 122,000 lighting bulbs, 65,000 lighting supplies, and equipment, in addition to supplying 6 telescopes.The report indicated that the cost of electricity and lighting projects achieved a growth rate of about 23% in the year (19/2020), compared to the year (18/2019). Regarding the ninth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Establishing resilient infrastructure, stimulating inclusive sustainable industrialization and encouraging innovation,” the report indicated the completion of the development and upgrading of the efficiency of the Edfu / Marsa Alam road (the first phase) with a length of 20 km, and the duplication of the road. The western desert in front of the solar energy complex in Banban, with a length of 9 km, raising the efficiency of Al-Alaqi Road by a length of 8 km and raising the efficiency of the road from Aswan Airport to Aswan Reservoir.Within the local development programs (paving roads, bridges, and tunnels), 107 projects were completed, for EGP 170.5 million, which resulted in the paving of 123 km of internal streets and roads, and the development of the Sebaa Marina.In the same context, and concerning the eleventh goal of "Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable", 2256 social housing units have been implemented, in addition to the implementation of 166 projects within local development programs (security, traffic and firefighting, and supporting the needs of local units) for EGP 384.2 million, it resulted in the development of 47 local units, the establishment of the Technology Development Center in Rudisia, the establishment and development of two fire points in the villages of Al-Balana and Zahraa, and the provision of a fire engine for the city of Daraw.
Regarding the thirteenth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Take urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts,” the report stated that 180 projects within the Local Development Program (improving the environment) have been implemented, at EGP 234 million, resulting in the provision of 63 cleaning equipment (Sweeping cars - dump cars - loaders - tree irrigation cars - dust sweepers), and 1967 cleaning containers.
