220% improvement in investments directed to the governorates: Planning Minister
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, discussed today the main features of the 2022/21 plan of the medium-term sustainable development plan (2019/18 - 2022/21) at the Senate Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee.
Dr. Hala El-Said discussed the development of investments directed to local development programs in the governorates, pointing to the development of investments directed to the governorates to reach 16 billion pounds in 2021/2022 compared to 5 billion pounds in 2017/2018, an increase of 220%.
El-Said indicated that the per capita share has grown by 192% as for the second year in a row; the financing equation is relied upon in the distribution of investments to ensure the fair distribution of resources, and to address the development gaps.
Concerning the citizen's investment plan, El-Said explained that it includes basic information and indicators for the 27 governorates, and the sectoral distribution of investment projects in them, continuing that they aim to localize sustainable development goals, while enhancing transparency and accountability, spreading the culture of programs and performance, as well as activating community participation.
On the most important green projects in the fiscal year 2022/21 plan, El-Said explained that the strategic objectives are to direct investments to green environmental projects through initiatives of the solid waste system, expansion of subway and electrified train networks, as well as wind and solar energy projects, explaining that the most important investments are Green Energy costs EGP 96 billion, including EGP 94 billion for smart transportation and EGP 1.9 billion for renewable energy.
