The second phase of the social reform program gives the private sector more flexibility: Deputy Minister of Planning

Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that Egypt has succeeded in recent years on several levels, on top of which is the economic and social level.
Kamali pointed to the success of the economic and social reform program that the country started in 2016, and the achievement of good rates that gained the confidence of international institutions.
Kamali referred to the proactive measures taken by the state to confront the challenge of the Coronavirus, as the government was quick to respond to face the effects of the crisis, with the support of economic reform policies that greatly alleviated its severity.
Kamali emphasized that the government is continuing to achieve and reach all sustainable development goals within the sustainable development strategy: Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development stated that the economic reform contributed to raising the rate of economic growth from 1.8% during the fiscal year 2011-2012 to 5.3%.
It also enabled the state to restore overall stability and build a solid foundation for the economy, indicating that the Arab region has been facing many challenges for 10 years. This led to the political and economic instability of countries.
Dr. Ahmed Kamali added that Egypt is distinguished by the presence of enormous natural and human resources, and a real will to move forward with reform, and is working to improve the investment climate and increase the contribution of the private sector to the economy, which is noticeable and wins many international praises.
Kamali referred to the implementation of the plan to support the various sectors of the Egyptian economy, within the framework of the second phase of the national program for economic reform, which is the stage of structural reforms.
Kamali explained that these vital economic sectors include industry, agriculture, and information and communication technology, as they are the engine of the economy in Egypt 2030, which Egyptians dream about.
Dr. Ahmed Kamali pointed out that the second phase of the Egyptian social and economic reform program includes the implementation of structural, institutional, and legislative reforms, granting the private sector more flexibility and priority, and preserving the fruits of the Egyptian economy of the first phase of economic reform.
The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development emphasized that the economic reform plan is very important, and it came at a difficult and sensitive time and had it not been for this step, Egypt would have been in a very difficult situation, indicating that the Coronavirus naturally affected the results of economic reform, yet the country was able to achieve growth rates Good compared to the rest of the world.
