Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that "Egypt Shall Pass" campaign launched by MPED in collaboration with Terous Misr Foundation, with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development, aims to support the most affected groups by stimulating the private sector to preserve and not compromise employment, due to the circumstances of facing the current Corona Virus crisis. The campaign also emphasizes the solidarity to preserve the gains of economic reform initiated by the GOE in 2016, with the participation of various sectors, which enabled the GOE today to take economic, social and health protection measures to counter and undermine the impacts of the Corona Virus pandemic.
Dr. Hala El-Said explained that the "Egypt Shall Pass" campaign is a platform where businessmen share the solutions they have to maintain employment, including smart solutions that rely on technology and digitization, as well as management solutions related to the management of resources and operations in a way that is consistent with the crisis and the procedures for containment.
El-Said explained that the GOE has developed multiple scenarios to face the global crisis caused by the Corona Virus outbreak, pointing out that the only approach to address that crisis in Egypt is to protect the lives of the citizens; no matter the financial or economic losses are, everything can be compensated except the Egyptian citizen, who represents the origin, reason and source of all the development processes carried out by the Egyptian state, stressing that all government institutions are working at full capacity to continue the process of growth and development.
Rami Galal, advisor to the Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Media affairs and spokesperson for MPED, said that in its first week on social media, the "Egypt Shall Pass" campaign has achieved nearly three million views on social media platforms and received positive response from citizens.
Galal highlighted that the campaign is open to all those who want to participate from private sector companies, and that it is not limited to major companies, stressing that MPED invites entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises to participate in the campaign. He added that the success of this campaign is attributed to its adoption of the issue of employment, which affects all sectors of Egyptian society, in light of the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through. Galal said the campaign is part of the MPED’s general media strategy, one of which is based on daily direct communication with the public through online platforms.
MPED, in collaboration with Terous Misr Foundation, launched the "Egypt Will Pass" initiative with the participation of a large number of owners and heads of enterprises, as the first popular initiative to counter the economic impacts of Corona Virus. In its first week, Dr. Ahmed Heikal, Chairman of Al-Qala’a Holding Company, participated in the campaign and announced that his company is seeking to establish four new projects that will provide jobs for 2,000 workers. The campaign was also engaged by Eng. Ahmed Al Sowaidi, Chairman of Al-Sowaidi Electric, Businessman Ahmed Abu Hashima, Managing Director of Al-Masreen Iron, Mr. Amr Suleiman, CEO of Mountain View, and Mr. Mahmoud Khattab, Chairman of BTech, who announced 100 temporary jobs to be created by BTECH for six months.
