Planning Minister reviews the objectives of the transport sector during 21/2022 before the Parliament

Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the transport sector targets for 21/2022, during her presentation of the draft sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 21/2022; The fourth year of the medium-term plan (18/2019 - 21/2022) today in front of the House of Representatives headed by Dr. Hanafi Jabali, the Parliament Speaker.
El-Said indicated that the total investments in the field of transportation are estimated at 245 billion pounds in the year of the plan.
El-Said explained that this investment boom's ambitious plan adopted by the state to strongly reflect the infrastructure and improve the performance of transport activities, with the assignment of priority when directing sector investment for projects nearing completion of national influential economic projects on the business climate, and projects with a social dimension affecting directly on the lives of citizens.In the field of roads, bridges, and road transport, El-Said confirmed that the investments directed to these activities contributed to the rise of Egypt in the world ranking of the quality of roads from the 85 center to the 28 centers.El-Said indicated that about EGP 23 billion were allocated to the Ministry of Transport projects, with a growth rate of 30%, to complete the strategic road projects, including the development of the 106 km ring road. Three roads with a length of 350 km, namely, “South Fayoum / Al-Wahat Road, Assiut / Sohag / Red Sea Road, and Suez / Geneva / Ismailia Road”.
Moreover , the presence of the initiative to "Expand the Construction of Cross-Axes on the Nile" with EGP 3.1 billion, directed to complete and construct 10 cross-axes, and to direct EGP 1.5 billion to the initiative to "construct alternative concrete bridges for ferries on the waterways".
El-Said also clarified that the plan includes appropriations of about EGP 2.9 billion to complete 3 strategic road projects implemented by the Central Agency for Reconstruction with lengths of 324 km, namely the King Salman Corridor Project, the Firdous Highway, and the duplication of Matrouh / Siwa Road, indicating that it is in In the field of river transport, the plan includes projects to develop river units along the shipping course (Cairo / Aswan) and raise the efficiency of the Halfa river port in Sudan.El-Said said the targeted investments and economic bodies, amounting to about EGP 146 billion in the year 21/2022 plan, the National Authority for Tunnels alone for about EGP 113 billion targeted for the implementation of the draft electric train rapid one linking Ain Sokhna new administrative capital, and the new city of El Alamein, and the second connects the tenth of Ramadan in the Administrative Capital, next to the Monorail lines in the New Administrative Capital and the city of 6 October, and the implementation of the third line of the first and second line of the Al-Anif metro and the development of Al-Raqq, and the second phase of the city, was completed.In the railway sector, the National Railway Authority of Egypt is receiving about EGP 27 billion, including the work of a target Nhoha in 21/2022, such as the business development of the construction of a number 1100 level crossing, and the establishment of the walls between stations, and other works targeted completion, such as bridge arches the new charity 490 meters long, and the development of signal systems.Regarding the Suez Canal activity, El-Said explained that the target is to increase the volume of traffic passing through the channel and the revenues generated from it, by 5% of the revenue generated from it. The development of the shipping line project completion includes the implementation of the establishment of tunnels under the Suez Canal, and the completion of modifying the northern entrance and the southern region, and the development of shunt West Port Said, while continuing to apply the pricing policy flexible to enhance the competitive advantage of the channel, and the development of the economic zone of the channel.
