The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued the third issue of the "Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates" report during the years (18 / 2019- 19/2020).


Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, indicated that the citizen follow-up report in the governorates includes an inventory of the projects that have been fully completed during the years (18 / 2019- 19/2020), and linking them to the sustainable development goals.



El-Said pointed out that the third issue of the report includes an inventory of projects Ending in Beni Suef Governorate, explaining that 509 projects have been completed in Beni Suef Governorate, with a total investment cost estimated at EGP 7.3 billion in 8 sectors (education, health, irrigation, local development, housing, transportation, petroleum, and electricity).



 Concerning the state’s efforts to achieve the second goal of the sustainable development goals: “Eliminate hunger, provide food security, improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture,” the report indicated the completion of the implementation of 19 projects in the water resources and irrigation sector, at EGP 237 million, including the establishment of two irrigation stations.



Regarding the third goal: “Ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being for all ages,” the report indicated that the development of three health units in the villages (Fazara, Ezbet Khalil Nusrat, and Kom al-Ahmar) has been completed, at a cost of about EGP 13.4 million.





 The comprehensive survey of local community characteristics, issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), indicates an increase in the percentage of villages with a health unit from 65.2% in 2015 to 70.3% in 2020.


As for the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Ensure a quality education that is equitable and inclusive and promotes learning opportunities throughout life for all.” 57 projects have been implemented in the pre-university education sector, for EGP 332 million, resulting in the creation, replacement, and expansion of 779 classrooms, in addition to upon completion of the establishment of the Technological University in Beni Suef, for EGP 135 million.



The percentage of villages with public primary and preparatory schools increased from 87.1% in 2015 to 98.6% in 2020, and the percentage of villages with only government preparatory schools increased from 84.7% to 88.7% in 2020.


Within the framework of achieving the sixth goal: “Ensure the availability of drinking water and sanitation for all and manage it sustainably,” the report stated that 11 drinking water and sanitation projects have been implemented, for EGP 995 million, including a treatment plant (capacity 23000 m3 / day) to serve the villages of the Sumasta Center, the expansions of the Ihnasia treatment plant (capacity 10/15000 m3 / day), the expansions of the sewage treatment plant in Abu Sir al-Malaq (capacity 12000 3 / day), and the expansions of the sanitation treatment plant Tansa Beni Malo (capacity 4000 3 m / day), and expansions of Al-Wasta water station to serve 75,000 citizens, in addition to networks of social housing facilities in New Beni Suef, and the replacement and renewal of 8 km long water networks.


Regarding the progress made in achieving the seventh goal: “Ensuring universal access to modern, regular and sustainable energy services at an affordable cost,” 9 projects in the electricity and renewable energy sector were completed, at EGP 1.6 billion, including the Beni Suef Industrial Transformer Station, and the expansion of the Al-Kuraimat transformer stations and Ahnasia, and the East Beni Suef Line / Zafarana 2, with a length of 88 km, in addition to the completion of the natural gas line at Al-Wasta Center, with a length of 65 km.







Besides, 151 projects within the local development programs (electricity and lighting) were completed, for EGP 106 million, which resulted in the installation and maintenance of 1.700 lighting poles, the installation and upgrading of 50 transformers and electricity kiosks, the lighting of 62.8 km of roads, and the provision of 107,000 equipment.




 Concerning the ninth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Establishing resilient infrastructure, stimulating inclusive sustainable industrialization, and encouraging innovation.” 96 projects have been completed within the local development programs (paving roads, bridges, and tunnels), for EGP 2.8 billion, This resulted in the construction of the Adli Mansour axis on the Nile, with a length of 7 km, the construction of 6 bridges, and the paving of roads and streets with a length of about 150 km.


In the same context, and concerning the eleventh goal of "making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable", 71 projects have been completed within the local development programs (security, traffic and firefighting, and supporting the needs of local units), for EGP 315 million.


These projects included the establishment, development, and equipping of 68 local unit buildings, the establishment of 2 technology centers, in addition to the establishment and development of 11 firefighting units and 3 traffic units, and the provision of 6.700 civil protection and traffic tasks and equipment.



Regarding the thirteenth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Take urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts”, 88 projects to improve the environment were completed, for EGP 91.2 million, which resulted in covering and covering canals of 2.7 km long, providing 132 boxes and garbage containers, and 56 A car and a locomotive garbage, and the establishment of 28 orifices for the extraction and collection of groundwater.
