Egypt’s NIGSD signs co-operation MoU with Danish Embassy in Cairo

Egypt’s National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Egypt on cooperation in areas related to governance, sustainable development, green transformation, and policy dialogue.
In this context, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of NIGSD said that the cooperation between the institute and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Egypt comes in light of Egypt's Vision 2030 and what it represents as a major milestone in the process of comprehensive development in Egypt and reforms in various fields.
El-Said draws attention to the approach taken by the institute of forming partnerships with relevant local and international institutions so that it can expand its circle of expertise and benefit from prestigious scientific institutions that have made great strides in the fields of training, capacity-building, education, research, and consulting.
For her part, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, emphasized that the development of the human factor is an integral part of the reform and construction process.
El-Sherif explained that because of the belief in the pivotal role assigned to state workers in implementing these reforms and being prepared for the subsequent consequences that affect the tasks entrusted to them, the presence of a strong entity that supports this system is a fundamental pillar in the process of change.
“We are here to appreciate the long and distinguished relations between Egypt and Denmark as a major partner in development, “She said.
El-Sherif highlighted NIGSD ‘keenness to further strengthen the Egyptian-Danish relations as well as benefit from the best Danish practices in the field of good governance practices and the implementation of sustainable development goals.
El-Sherif added that the cooperation agreement that we are witnessing today is to formalize the strategic partnership with the Danish Embassy in Cairo to work together to achieve leadership and creativity in building and developing human capabilities by providing training programs.
“I look forward to working together through the successful implementation of the MoU as well as the continuation of our joint efforts to build a long-term strategic partnership between the two countries,” she added.
Concerning the proposed areas of cooperation between NIGSD and the Danish Embassy, El-Sherif indicated that the cooperation is based on the implementation of some activities represented in developing human capabilities through holding training in some areas, including support for good governance, sustainable development, green transition, policy dialogue, in addition to organizing workshops and seminars for stakeholders, as agreed upon between the two parties.
On his part, Sind Oling, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Egypt, stressed that Denmark is keen on strengthening cooperation with Egypt in the field of sustainable development. He said that the partnership with the Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development will contribute to building cadres and organizing study visits, and then it will contribute to achieving the goals of the 2030 strategy.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, and Mr. Svind Oling, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark in Egypt, in the presence of Mr. Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at the Institute.
