Egypt’s NIGSD concludes training courses for E-JUST ‘s African postgraduate students & administrative leaders

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development – through its Training Network for Management Institutes in Africa (Tanmia) concluded recently an intensive training course for African postgraduate students and administrative leaders enrolled in the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology (E-JUST).
The course comes within the framework of the Egyptian government's keenness to contribute effectively to sustainable development efforts on the African continent. It also represents a means to support Egyptian efforts to build African cadres who possess the capabilities necessary to achieve the ambitions and agenda of the continent in 2063.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, stated in a speech delivered to her by Dr. Hanan Rizk Director of the African Development Center at NIGSD. Sherifa Sherif stated that NIGSD works to provide graduates with updated knowledge and skills.
The NIGSD also works to increase their awareness of the UN SDGs, by keeping pace with the aspirations of the African Agenda 2063. In addition, they apply the principles of governance as a means to achieve the goals of sustainable development at the local, continental, and global levels.
The graduation ceremony witnessed the presence of Dr. Masaaki Suzuki, Senior Vice President of the Japanese University for Regional and International Affairs. He handed out graduation certificates to 59 trainee graduate students from 6 colleges of the university.
Alumni represent 11 African countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Egypt.
It is worth noting that the training took place in cooperation with the German Hanns Seidel Foundation. This foundation has been a major supporter of the activities of the African Development Center at the NIGSD since its establishment in 2019.
The training was held in coordination with the Office of Regional and International Affairs (E-JUST).
After the training activities, ways of future cooperation between the NIGSD and E-JUST were discussed.
