H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said met recently with Dr. Hani Sewliam , Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation to review the executive steps of the investment plan of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation for the current fiscal year2022/2023.

The meeting also discussed the irrigation’s ministry proposal for the investment plan of the next fiscal year 2023/2024.  

The meeting witnessed the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning , Dr. Heba Mogheeb, Head of the Regional Planning Sector, Dr. Mohamed Maghribi, Head of the Human Development Sector and 

Eng. Nihad Morsi, Head of the Infrastructure services.

During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said stressed the importance of the water security as one of the most important international (SDGs)sustainable development goals, which is compatible with the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030. 

El-Said added that a large numbero f officials in ministries have been trained to ensure that investment plans are compatible with the UN SDGs and take into account environmental sustainability.

Moreover, El-Said explained that the meeting comes within the framework of the systematic steps taken to develop the state's

investment plan for the next fiscal year,through coordination with the ministries in way that copes with the plan for each ministry and

by the objectives of the medium-term plan,emanating from the long-term plan represented by Egypt's Vision 2030.

El-Said pointed out that the current year is anexceptional due to the unique circumstances that the world in general and Egypt in particular are going through in terms of public and investment spending, which prompts the need to focus on the priorities.

Dr. Hani Swilam explained that the water sector comes at the top of the

Egyptian state's concerns, noting that many major projects in the field of water are currently being implemented in various

governorates, in a way that aims to promote sustainable management of water resources and increasing the capacity of the water sector to address the challenges it faces and to achieve SDGs.

Dr. Swilam asserted that the ongoingn ational projects in the field of water aim to serve the water system,maximize the return from the water unit, and serve the beneficiaries,especially farmers. 

The aforementioned meeting witnessed the presentation of the executive steps undertaken of the investment plan for the current fiscal year 2022/2023, with a budget estimated at EGP 16.2 billion ,with an implementation rate of 85% of its projects so far.

FY 2023/2024 investment plan was also discussed which includes completing the implementation of several major projects currently underway including implementing new projects in the fields of the canal

rehabilitation, protection, and development of the Nile River.
