Ministry of Planning & Economic Development releases "Citizen Investment Plan" of Al Sharqia in FY 22/2023

Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development reviewed recently the features of the (Citizen Investment Plan) for Al Sharqia Governorate for the fiscal year 22/2023.
The aforementioned announcement came as part of the government’s ongoing activity to announce the citizen's plan in all governorates of the Egyptian republic for the consecutive fourth year.
The announcement aims to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (22/2023), and its role in achieving "Egypt’s Vision 2030”.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said , Egypt’s Minister of Planning & Economic Development said that the launch of "Citizen Investment Plan" reflects the state’ keen desire to involve citizens in efforts to develop the planning and follow-up systems.
The Egyptian state aim to achieve sustainable and inclusive development, thereby contributing to addressing development gaps between the various governorates, localizing SDGs and achieving SDG 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goals.
El-Said stressed that citizens are the real pillar of development, noting that it is necessary to empower and provide them with data on development programmes and projects implemented by the state.
El-Said added that all development plans adopted by the government aim to improve the quality of life of citizens.
She stressed that this will not be achieved without active community participation, in line with "Egypt Vision 2030".
El-Said explained that during the past period, the Ministry of Planning has taken many steps aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability and emphasizing the importance of citizens' participation in planning and follow-up.
On the citizen's investment plan in Al Sharqia governorate, El-Said stated that the number of development projects in the governorate reaches 414 projects. The value of the public investment in Al Sharqia governorate in the plan of 22/2023 is EGP 8.7 billion, a growth of 8.75% over the plan of 21/2022, other than projects directed through the Egyptian rural development project "Decent Life”.
Regarding the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in Al Sharqia governorate in the 22/2023 plan, The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development report indicated that investments worth EGP 4.6 billion to the housing sector were directed at 53% followed by the local development sector worth EGP 1.1 billion (12.6%), The higher education and scientific research sector belongs has received EGP1 billion .
Other sectors in the governorate have investments of EGP 985 million.
The report indicated that the number of villages targeted for the first phase at the “Decent Life” initiative " is 41 villages at the govern-orate.
The main development projects implemented through the initiative are the establishment of 10 agricultural services complexes , 7 ambulance points, 61 health units, 608 classrooms, 59 schools in addition to the establishment of 2 family development centres, 20 drinking water plants 41 of a sanitation project, 10 treatment plants and the 26 of a residential building for the most-favoured families.
The report referred to the main development objectives of the housing sector in Al Sharqia governorate in the 22/2023 plan, which is to direct EGP 2.9 billion to the National Programme for social housing in the governorate in addition to targeting about EGP 1.1 billion for drinking and sanitation services.
