We are working to update and implement Egypt's Vision 2030, and to advance partnership mechanisms with the private sector, civil society, and development partners to enhance financing for developmentEgypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Moudbly defined recently the tasks of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, which included assigning the ministry ten tasks in the field of economic development, in addition to its original tasks in the field of planning.In this context, H.E. Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the Ministry of Planning achieved great progress in the file of critical administrative reform, most notably the institutional development and capacity-building pillars, which were parallel to the process of accurate economic reform in an exceptional period.El Said noted that the ministry has now been assigned another file of great importance for economic development, stressing that after the success of the economic program of the Egyptian state, the ministry seeks to maintain sustainable growth in a way that reflects more opportunities for decent and productive work.She further explained that the economic development file is closely related to the lives, adding that economic development is an important part of planning, especially with regard to planning the governorates, making use of available resources, and maximizing investment opportunities in them.On the ministry’s tasks and powers in the field of economic development, El Said explained that the ministry is responsible for formulating and following up the implementation of the national sustainable development strategy “Egypt’s Vision 2030”.According the recent tasks’ assignment, the ministry is also responsible on following up the implementation of the UN sustainable development strategy, while ensuring compatibility with the African Agenda 2063, in addition to preparing periodic reports to assess indicators of implementation of the SDGs. In this context, El Said indicated that the Ministry of Planning recently announced the initial features of the national agenda for sustainable development; Egypt's Vision 2030 after the modernization, where the new version of the vision will be launched within three months.“Egypt’s 2030 vision update comes with the aim of keeping pace with the changes that occurred in the indicators of the Egyptian economy after implementing the economic reform program and ensuring its consistency with the international goals for sustainable development and the African agenda 2063,” El Said added.The Minister of Planning and Economic Development also indicated that the Ministry is also responsible for studying the optimal utilization of the assets of the exploited and untapped state and maximizing the return from them. In this context El Said pointed to the role of Egypt's first sovereign wealth fund, stressing that it is proceeding with a rapid and confident step towards activating its investment work and attracting investments in line with the sustainable development strategy, Egypt’s Vision 2030.
