Egypt’s NIGSD, Kalmnyishara signs LOT to qualify People With "Real" Superpowers batch affiliated with the “Be an Ambassador” initiative

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of NIGSD, signed a letter of intent (LOT) with the "Kalmnyishara"(Sign To Me) Center for Training and Translation in Sign Language for the Deaf, Dumb, and Hard of Hearing, represented by Ahmed Fathy, Director of the Center and one of the graduates of the “Be an Ambassador” initiative.
The aforementioned LOT was signed to implement a specialized program for the deaf and dumb as part of the “Be an Ambassador” initiative.
The signing witnessed the presence of Dr. Hussein Abaza, an expert at the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, said that the signing came within the framework of NIGSD’s keenness to include the "Be an Ambassador" initiative for all segments of society, to increase awareness of SDGs (Sustainable development goals).
Sherif indicated that two batches of the initiative were implemented targeting youth and a batch for journalists.
Sherif emphasized the importance of empowering People With "Real" Superpowers, integrating them into society, and arming them with information through educational methods.
Sherif stated that the issue of integrating people with special abilities into development is one of the pivotal development issues at the global level.
For her part, Amira Hossam, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Sustainable Development Affairs, indicated that the Be an Ambassador initiative is constantly following up on the ideas and projects of its graduates.
Sherif explained that the letter of intent comes within the framework of NIGSD’s interest in adopting and empowering the ideas of the initiative's graduates, and in light of encouraging innovative startups that serve the community.
Both sides agreed that the activities of the specialized batch for People With "Real" Superpowers should be implemented in a way that combines virtual attendance and presence on the ground in the training halls while providing a translation of the scientific material and multimedia (videos) in sign language.
It was also agreed to seek the assistance of sign language interpreters during the personal attendance section of the meeting.
