Egypt’s NIGSD launches “Governance Ambassadors” initiative for university students

Egypt’s National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) , the
training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development
launched recently the Governance Ambassadors” initiative for University students.
The initiative is taking place in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and
Scientific Research, Administrative Control Authority (ACA), The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the GLOBAL RESOURCE FOR ANTI-CORRUPTION EDUCATION AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT (GRACE).
NIGSD’s Executive Director , Dr . Sherifa El-Sherif said during the opening speech of the launch ceremony that the
“Governance” notion combats corruption in order to achieve sustainable development.
Sherifa asserted that NIGSD believes in the Youths’ capabilities in innovation.
She further noted that NIGSD is adopting numerous initiatives that support the efforts of the Egyptian state and international organizations to enhance governance awareness , combat corruption and spread the culture of integrity.
Sherifa has indicated that the “Governance Ambassadors” initiative aims to empower university youth to be ambassadors for the governance ideology.
She also noted that the initiative seeks to inspire youth to have their own opinions
regarding challenges that face anti corruption efforts.
The initiative’s launch ceremony witnessed the presence of Professor Mahmoud El-Saeed who is acting as the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science , Cairo University , Major General Dr. Khaled Saeed,Vice-Dean of the ACA and Mirna Bouhabib,Deputy Regional Representative at (GRACE).
The first week of the initiative incorporates a series of workshops including anti-corruption agreements and the national anti-corruption strategy.
Aforementioned workshops are being conducted by Dr. Khaled Saeed, Undersecretary of the ACA combating and Nader Nour El-Din, Director of the Communication and AwarenessUnit at NIGSD.
