INVESTMENTS DIRECTED TO MATROUH GOVERNORATE ESTIMATED AT EGP 13.3 BILLION IN 2022/2023 FY: PLANNING MINISTER

Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued recently a report in which it reviewed the features of the citizen's investment plan for the Matrouh Governorate for the year 2023/22.
This came within the framework of continuing to announce the citizen's plan in all governorates of the Republic for the fourth year in a row, to educate citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year (2023/22), and its role in achieving "Egypt's Vision 2030".
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, confirmed that within the framework of achieving balanced regional development, which is one of the pillars on which Egypt's Vision 2030 is based, recent years have witnessed intensified efforts to localize sustainable development goals in the governorates to maximize the comparative advantages of all governorates.
El-Said added that all development plans adopted by the state aim to improve citizens’ quality of life, and this will not be achieved without active community participation, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
El-Said pointed out that the Ministry of Planning has taken many steps during the past period to enhance transparency and accountability and emphasize the importance of citizen participation in planning and follow-up.
Regarding the citizen's investment plan in Matrouh Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate reached 217 projects.
El-Said said that the value of public investments directed to Matrouh governorate in the 2023/22 plan amounts to EGP 13.3 billion.
Concerning the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in Matrouh Governorate in the 2022/21 plan, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated directing investments worth EGP 5 billion to the electricity sector, at a rate of 37.6%, followed by the housing sector, at a value of EGP 2.7 billion, or 20.3%.
Investments were directed to the transportation sector amounting to EGP 1.9 billion, or 14.3%, the higher education, and scientific research sector amounted to EGP 888 million, or 6.7%, and the health sector concerned EGP 745.8 million, or 5.6%, and other sectors.
The report indicated that the most significant development goals in the housing sector of Matrouh Governorate in Plan 2023/22 are to direct about EGP 1.1 billion to the provision of drinking water services.
The most significant development projects in the sector, amounting to 36 projects, are the provision of educational services in the upcoming city of El Alamein, and the implementation of the projects of the national program for social housing in the governorate.
In the field of health, the most prominent development goals are establishing, completing, and developing 14 hospitals in the Matrouh Governorate.
