Main / Media / News / On WEF sidelines in Davos : Egypt’s Minister of Planning discusses ways of cooperation in the field of agriculture with the Minister of Finance and Planning of Zambia

19 January 2023

Switzerland on January 19, 2023 H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, continued her bilateral meetings to discuss means of cooperation between Egypt and some countries. This came on the sidelines of her participation in the activities of the 53rd annual meeting of the Davos World Economic Forum, where she met with the Minister of Finance and Planning of the Republic of Zambia, Tsetumbeko Mosokotowan, to discuss means of cooperation between Egypt and Zambia in the field of agriculture.During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said asserted that Egypt's relations with African countries are strong and well-established, explaining that Egyptian-African relations have witnessed strong momentum in some economic, trade, and investment fields. El-Said reviewed Egypt's efforts to advance the agricultural sector, noting that the sector occupies double importance as it represents one of the main pillars of national food security. Moreover, it also forms one of the major pillars of support for the capacity of the national economy. This is because it aims at restructuring the Egyptian economy to diversify the productive structure by focusing on sectors of the real economy, such as agriculture.   The two sides also discussed the importance of exchanging expertise and successful experiences in the agricultural sector, which is the mainstay of the economy, especially in light of the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the cessation of imports, and the exacerbation of supply chain challenges, which affected most countries of the world.
