On WEF sidelines in Davos : Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development meets the Minister of State at the German Federal Chancellery

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met with Dr. Jörg Kukies, Minister of State at the German Federal Chancellery, to discuss ways of cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure, energy, and green hydrogen, during her participation in the work of the World Economic Forum in Davos.The meeting included an exchange of visions regarding global economic conditions, as well as a discussion of ways for Germany to support tourism in Egypt. Prior to the period of global crises, it had a successful track record.During the meeting, El-Said discussed the world's urgent need to shift to a green economy and the trend towards renewable energy, stressing Egypt's interest in climate change issues as part of its efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.El-Said pointed out that Egypt has launched environmental sustainability standards and green bonds, becoming the first African country to launch them, in addition to the state's direction, through the sovereign fund, to invest in many projects in various sectors.The most prominent of these sectors are green hydrogen, clean transportation, water desalination, new and renewable energy, and projects in priority sectors such as green hydrogen production, sustainable transportation, and high energy efficiency projects.El-Said also referred to the state's efforts in the field of tourism as one of the main sources of foreign currency, noting the state's endeavor to greatly increase the number of tourists and their revenues to unprecedented levels, levels that a country like Egypt deserves.The minister's visit to Davos, Switzerland, included meetings with international ministers, as well as CEOs of major companies and institutions. These meetings discussed opportunities to attract investments to Egypt and enhance cooperation between different governments, as well as the participation of the international private sector.
