The report includes an inventory of the projects that were fully completed during (18 / 2019- 19/2020) and linking them to the sustainable development goals: Says Hala El-Said
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued the second issue of the “Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates” report during (18 / 2019- 19/2020). Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, indicated that the "Citizen Follow-up in the Governorates" report includes an inventory of the projects that were fully completed during the years (18 / 2019-19-2020) and linking them to the sustainable development goals.El-Said pointed out that the second issue of the report included the follow-up of projects in the New Valley Governorate, where 127 projects were completed in the New Valley Governorate, with a total investment cost estimated at EGP 3.3 billion, in 7 sectors (education, health, housing, electricity, irrigation, transportation, and local development). Regarding the state’s efforts to achieve the second goal of the sustainable development goals: “Eliminate hunger, provide food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture,” the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development report indicated that 10 projects in the water resources and irrigation sector had been completed, for LE 128.2 million including drilling 8 replacement wells and operating 26 underground wells with solar energy.Regarding the third goal: "Ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being for all at all ages", the report indicated that the establishment of 3 health units in the villages (Ain Aish, Palestine, and West Al Mawhoub) had been completed, at EGP 4.1 million.The comprehensive survey of local community characteristics, issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, indicates an increase in the percentage of villages with a health unit from 37.7% in 2015 to 39.5% in 2020.Regarding the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Ensure a quality education that is equitable and inclusive of all and enhances learning opportunities throughout life for all.” The report indicated that 14 projects were completed at LE 111 million, resulting in the creation, replacement, and renewal of 126 classrooms, pointing to the number of completed projects in the education sector, it achieved a growth rate of 80% and 63% in the number of classes implemented on (19/2020) compared to (18/2019).The percentage of villages with public primary and preparatory schools increased from 53.3% in 2015 to 65.3% in 2020, and the percentage of villages with only government preparatory schools increased from 50.8% to 55.6% in 2020.Within the framework of achieving the sixth goal: “Ensure the availability of drinking water and sanitation for all and manage it sustainably,” 7 drinking water and sanitation projects have been completed for EGP 103 million, including 6 water stations for removing iron and manganese, benefiting about 90,000 citizens, as well as connecting Drinking water and sanitation facilities for a social housing project.About the progress made in achieving the seventh goal: “Ensure universal access to modern, regular and sustainable energy services at an affordable cost,” two projects in the electricity sector have been completed, for 883 million pounds, namely the Balat / East Owainat line (4, 3, 2), On high voltage 220 kV, with a length of 578 km, and the Balat / East Owainat line (1), with a length of 200 km.“20 projects within the local development programs (electricity and lighting) were also completed, for  EGP38.1 million, which resulted in lighting roads of 9 km long, laying electrical cables of 1.3 km, providing more than 4000 lighting tools, installing 10 transformers, and 2,200 LED flashlight and saving lamp,” The report indicated.About the ninth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Establishing resilient infrastructure, stimulating inclusive sustainable industrialization, and encouraging innovation.” The Farafra / Dayrut axis, with a length of 310 km, was completed, and roads were paved inside the Dakhla centers and 7 km of tiles were completed from the paving of local roads of 66.2 km, and the development of 35 km of streets.In the same context, and concerning the eleventh goal of “Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable,” 150 rural homes have been attached to the village of Gormsin and 100 rural homes in Jinnah, the development of the Mashrabiya district of Ghaith and Sheikh Maymon, and the establishment of the Paris market.In addition to the completion of the implementation of 4 projects, within the security, traffic, and firefighting program, for 60.8 million pounds, which resulted in the development of the Al-Nahda Village firefighting unit in Farafra Center, the supply of 3 fire trucks, 2 cars for traffic units, 3 equipment and missions for traffic units, and 5 missions for civil protection.Within the program of supporting the needs of local units, 21 projects were completed, for 28 million pounds, and among the most important completed projects was the establishment and development of local units in the villages (Blat, Arbaeen, Gormachin 7)About the thirteenth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Take urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts”, 27 projects to improve the environment were completed, for 22.5 million pounds, which resulted in the supply of 46 cleaning equipment (cars, loaders), and more than 4800 tools. Hygiene (litter boxes, cutters, compressors ...).
