Egypt’s Planning Minister discusses joint cooperation with the CEO of Orange Group

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development met recently with the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Group, Ms. Christel Heydemann to discuss ways of joint cooperation.During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed several of the most critical work files of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development such as the structural reforms program, the decent life initiative, and the National Project for Development of the Egyptian Family.Moreover, El-Said explained the priorities of investment expenditure for the state, and indicators of the growth of the Egyptian economy during the first half of FY 2023/22.El-Said also shed light on the expectations of total growth reaching more than 5%, as well as indicators of unemployment, inflation rates, and the Egyptian state's plans to deal with economic crises.Dr. Hala El-Said also reviewed the most relevant files on technology, renewable energy, asset development, and attracting foreign partnerships and investment sectors within The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE).
For her part, Ms. Christel Heydemann confirmed that she had sensed an interest in improving the investment climate in Egypt. Heydemann noted her aspiration to work with the Egyptian government. With her team, she is looking into expanding Orange's investments in Egypt in technology localization and upgrading its infrastructure in the telecommunications sector. This will support the provision of better services to its customers, according to Heydemann.The meeting witnessed the presence of Mr. Ayman Suleiman, Executive Director of TSFE, Jerome Hynek, CEO of Orange for the Middle East and Africa, and Yasser Shaker, CEO of Orange Egypt. Moreover, Mr. Eleon Ndiaye, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orange for the Middle East and Africa, and Ludovici Besch, CEO of financial affairs at Orange for the Middle East and Africa region attended the meeting.
