On Sunday, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), was honored as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Egypt for 2020. This was during the celebration of the "Egypt for the Best" summit, which was held under the auspices of the "50 Most Influential Women" forum under the patronage of the Prime Minister, and in the presence of Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Chairman of the Institute's Board of Trustees and several ministers, and the media figure Dina Abdel Fattah, President of the Forum and Chair Editing of Amwal Al-Ghad magazine and representatives of the business community in Egypt, international organizations and civil society.El-Sherif said that she is happy with this honor and that she appreciates the role of the Forum in honoring influential women at the state level, stressing that Egypt has honorable models for a large number of women in various sectors and that it is important to take advantage of the productive and creative energies of Egyptian women to increase the added value. And achieve inclusive and sustainable growth.El-Sherif added that women play an important role in economic activity, stressing the importance of promoting women's economic empowerment. It is a pivotal issue in Egypt Vision 2030, as the vision is based on all its pillars on taking into account gender considerations, as women come as the main partner in preparing, formulating, and implementing this vision.The Executive Director of NIGSD also drew attention to the Egyptian state’s interest in training and capacity building directed at women through packages of different training programs available for both sexes or specifically for women, referring to the program for training executive women leaders, which was implemented by the Institute in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the Commission Administrative Control, and UN Women, with a total of 300 female graduates of Egyptian women leaders, at the level of 6 different governorates.The will be soon made available to women in the rest of the governorates of Egypt, to enhance the efforts and direction of the state to localize the sustainable development goals in the Egyptian governorates and regions.El-Sherif added that the first version of the same program had been launched for African women leaders; this came within the framework of Egypt's interest in strengthening cooperation with various countries of the world, especially African countries, and this included the training of 100 women from 45 brotherly African countries. The second edition of the African Women’s Leadership Training Program will be launched for 100 African women leaders in senior management positions during the period from March 10-28 through virtual education technology. With wider geographical coverage due to the circumstances of the Corona pandemic, in cooperation with the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs arm is tasked with supporting the efforts of African countries in implementing Africa's Agenda 2063 as the main partner supporting the program, and the Geminae Africa Foundation as a knowledge and technology partner for its expertise in the field of leadership Business in Africa.The Top 50 Most Influential Women Award in Egypt is awarded annually to women who have exceptional accomplishments and leadership potential, and who have been able to make significant contributions in various development sectors. The “50 Most Influential Women” forum aims to promote social and economic development from the perspective of professional women leaders capable of developing issues. Related to gender is at the top of the political agenda in Egypt.
