Egypt’s Ministry of Planning unveils the executive position of the pillar of employment and economic development in the "Decent Life" initiative

Execution of “Decent Life” initiative is the sure guarantee for sustainable development in the neediest villages: says Hala El SaidThe Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a report that includes the executive position of the pillar of employment and economic development, within the framework of the "Decent Life" initiative during the current fiscal year 19/2020.In this context, H.E. Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development said that the fiscal year 20/2021 plan took into consideration commitment to the state’s goals for spatial justice and enhancing the role of public investment in social protection, by increasing investments directed to the governorates and regions most in need.El Said pointed to the implementation of the second phase of the "Decent Life" initiative in 357 new villages in 14 governorates, as well as the completion of projects under implementation in the villages of the first phase of the initiative (143 villages), at a cost of EGP 8 billion to reach a coverage rate of 56%.On the pillar of employment and economic development at “Decent Life” initiative, El Said stressed that this pillar is the sure guarantee for the sustainability of development in the neediest villages, indicating directing a value of EGP 174.5 million during the first nine months (July 2019 - March 2020) of the current fiscal year, including financing submitted by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development showed that the Assiut Governorate topped the rest of the governorates, by obtaining a sum of EGP 115.8 million, then Sohag Governorate, with EGP 28.8 million, Qena Governorate, EGP 17.1 million, and Beheira Governorate, EGP 4.2 million, followed by Aswan Governorate, EGP 3.4 million, Luxor governorate EGP 2.3 million, then Minya governorate EGP 1.1 million, Qalyubia EGP 1.1 million and New Valley EGP 1 million. On the geographical distribution of the beneficiaries, the report indicated that the number of beneficiaries in Asyut Governorate reached 13.000 citizens, the number of beneficiaries in Sohag Governorate reached 2.300 citizens, more than 1000 beneficiaries in Qena, 269 beneficiaries in Aswan, 256 beneficiaries in Beheira governorate.Recently, minister of planning discussed the basic features of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 20/2021 before the plan and budget committee of the House of Representatives.
