Planning Ministry succeeds in including Egypt's Decent life initiative within UN Partnerships for SDGs platform

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced its success in including the presidential initiative “Decent Life” within the United Nations Organization's Sustainable Development Partnerships Platform, which is known as "Partnerships for the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals".Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development said that the ministry had submitted a request to include the initiative in the pilot programs of the United Nations Organization for Sustainable Development.“The approval of the inclusion of a "Decent Life" in the platform comes within the framework of Egypt's pioneering role in localizing the sustainable development goals in rural gatherings,” El-Said addedEl-Said also indicated that this comes as the first step of the strategic plan drawn up by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to promote the initiative abroad in light of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to highlight the initiative is one of the most important international initiatives aimed at localizing the sustainable development goals in rural communities.El-Said pointed out that the initiative’s goals converge with many of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially the first goal related to poverty alleviation, the second goal “zero hunger,” the third goal “good health,” the fourth goal, “quality education,” and the sixth goal "Clean water and sanitation services,".Moreover, the initiative’s goals converge with the eighth goal which is the "Decent Work and Economic Growth," and the eleventh goal, "Sustainable Societies," and the partnership of the state, civil society, and the private sector in implementing the initiative makes it consistent with the seventeenth goal of "partnership in achieving the goals."El-Said asserted that the "Decent Life" initiative is an unprecedented development project at the world level that aims to change the life of the Egyptian countryside. The initiative targets 4,500 villages over three years with investments exceeding EGP 500 billion, pointing to the concerted efforts of all state agencies to accelerate the Implementing initiative projects and completing them on time.
UN Partnerships for SDGs platform puts a set of standards and controls before listing the programs and initiatives on its lists.The "Decent Life" initiative fulfills the smart criteria for the platform as being targeted, measurable, and achievable, based on available resources, and timed, and leads to the implementation of the 2030 development plan. Moreover, the initiative seeks to localize the sustainable development goals in all its steps.
The Register of UN Partnerships for SDGs platform is an open online platform managed by the Sustainable Development Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and serves as the basis for identifying multi-stakeholder partnerships and voluntary commitments.
