The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by Ms. Amira Hossam, Assistant Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Affairs, participated in a workshop on Egypt's progress in the voluntary national report to achieve the United Nations sustainable development goals.The workshop came within the activities of the African Peer Review Mechanism meeting on the report of the voluntary national review of Africa in preparation for the participation of African countries in the high-level political forum 2021, which was organized in Djibouti. In the presence of Professor Eddy Malluka, CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism, and Egypt's Ambassador to the Republic of Djibouti, Dr. Mohamed Arafi; And some African ministers and ambassadors.During the session held under the title “Preparing for the High-Level Political Forum for 2021”; Professor Amira Hossam confirmed Egypt's keenness to participate permanently, as she submitted the report of the voluntary national review in 2016 and the end of 2018, noting that this year is the third time that Egypt will participate with a voluntary report to review its experience in combating the Corona crisis.Hossam also reviewed during the session the steps of preparing for the voluntary national report, starting with the participatory methodology of work under the umbrella of the technical committee to follow up the implementation of the sustainable development goals, which includes in its membership about 17 ministries and affiliated bodies.The Deputy Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Affairs touched on the most important topics that will be reviewed in the report, the most prominent of which is the impact of the Corona crisis on achieving sustainable development goals, and the priority of focusing on sustainable financing and green economy in light of this challenge. Moreover, the report will highlight the completion of the efforts made in the file of governance, capacity building, and spreading a culture of sustainable development among youth; Pointing to the "Be an Ambassador" initiative for sustainable development.
