Planning Ministry delegation inspects solid waste management projects in Cairo Governorate

The solid waste management system is one of the most important mechanisms for achieving development goals related to the environment: Says Hala El-SaidThe delegation of the Ministries of Planning and Environment inspected the projects of the solid waste management system in Cairo Governorate, to follow up the implemented projects and ensure that they enter service in a way that improves the efficiency of the system.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the solid waste management system is one of the most important mechanisms for achieving development goals related to the environment, whether at the level of the UN development goals or the goals of Egypt 2030 vision.El-Said pointed out that the system achieves more sustainability for environmental resources. The Ministry of Planning seeks to support the new system and work with partner ministries to implement it with the highest quality that is reflected in the quality of life of the citizen.El-Said added that the new system provides sources of clean energy through recycling technology that aims to generate energy, as well as creating organic fertilizers that serve the agricultural sector and improve the environmental condition of the soil, as well as provide new job opportunities for a large number of young people.Regarding the results of the field inspection of the intermediate stations in Cairo governorate, Dr. Heba Mugheib, head of the regional planning sector at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, explained that there is a fixed intermediate station in the Nasser facility.
The Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority has received the site and equipment from the cooperation protocol between the ministries of (Environment, Local Development) and the Arab Organization for Industrialization since December 2020.The delegation of the Ministries of Planning, Economic Development, and Environment was headed by Eng. Mena Samir, Assistant Minister of Environment for Solid Waste Management Affairs, and Dr. Heba Mugheeb, Head of the Regional Planning Sector at the Ministry of Planning.
