Egypt's planning ministry releases 'Citizen Investment Plan' of Kafr El-Sheikh in FY2020/21

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the features of the "Citizen Investment Plan" in the Kafr El-Sheikh governorate for the fiscal year 20/2021. This comes in the context of continuing to announce the citizen’s plan in all governorates of Egypt for the second year in a row, to activate community participation and involve citizens in planning and follow-up.Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development explained that the 'Citizen Investment Plan' includes the most prominent features of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 20/2021, at the national level, and the most important economic indicators for each governorate represented in the gross domestic product, the real growth rate, the unemployment rate and the number of employed
The 'Citizen Investment Plan' also includes the value of public investments directed to the governorate in the fiscal year 20/2021 plan, their distribution to different sectors, and the number of projects being implemented in each governorate.El-Said added that the 'Citizen Investment Plan' is based on evidence-based planning, by making use of databases and performance measurement indicators in all developmental areas in the 27 governorates of Egypt, in a way that ensures bridging development gaps between the different governorates.Regarding the citizen's investment plan in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, El-Said indicated that the number of development projects in the governorate reaches 353 projects and that the value of public investments directed to Kafr El-Sheikh governorate in the 20/2021 plan is EGP 3.2 billion, an increase of 23% over the plan for the year 2019/2020 representing 1, 2% of public investment distributed.El-Said pointed out that the rate of growth in investments financed by the public treasury and directed to Kafr El-Sheikh governorate reaches 10%.
About the sectorial distribution of public investments targeted in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate in the 2021/2021 plan, El-Said referred to directing investments worth EGP 961.4 million to the housing sector, at a rate of 39.8%, and the transport sector is investing in the amount of EGP 560 million, or 17.4%. The local development sector is allocated EGP 545.6 million, or 16.9%, in addition to allocating EGP 342.3 million to the education sector and technical education at 10.6%.
It also directed EGP 317.4 million to the water resources and irrigation sector, at a rate of 9.6%, in addition to directing EGP 496.5 million to other sectors, at a rate of 15.4%.
The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that the most important development goals in the housing sector in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate in the 2021/2021 plan are to direct EGP 408 million to drink water and sanitation services, in addition to directing about EGP 250 million to develop informal areas and markets, and in the pre-university education sector to establish 89 schools contain 1,286 classrooms.
In the water resources and irrigation sector, the number of barrages and industrial establishments targeted for construction, replacement, renewal, or maintenance is about 54, in addition to targeting the rehabilitation and lining of 40 km of waterways.
