Egypt's planning Ministry releases 'Citizen Investment Plan' of Giza in FY 2020/21

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the features of the “Citizen Investment Plan” in Giza governorate for the fiscal year 20/2021, as part of the continuation of announcing the citizen’s plan in all governorates of Egypt for the second year in a row.
Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said asserted that Egypt's Vision 2030 aims mainly to improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen and improve his standard of living, and that is why the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 20/2021 is based on public investment in infrastructure, social and economic.
“Egypt’s Vision 2030 seeks to ensure that the return on investment reaches all citizens in all parts of the country , including youth, women, and people with special abilities provided that the low-income people are the first to reap the fruits of this investment,” El-Said said.
El-Said added that Egypt’s Vision 2030 provides decent and sustainable job opportunities, embodying the true meaning of social development with improving the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and enhancing the Egyptian leadership.
El-Said explained that the launch of the “Citizen Plan” comes within the framework of the continuous keenness to link the planning process with Egypt's Vision 2030, the localization of sustainable development goals, and a continuation of the participatory approach adopted by the Ministry with all development partner.
This is being implemented in a manner that establishes the principles of governance and accountability, and the transparency of the state's development plan.
On the citizen's investment plan in Giza Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate reaches 407 projects and that the value of public investments directed to Giza governorate in the 20/2021 plan is EGP 30.6 billion, an increase of 29.6% over the 2019/2020 plan, representing 11 8% of distributed public investments.
About the sectorial distribution of public investments targeted in Giza governorate in the 20/2021 plan, the report of the planning ministry indicated that investments worth EGP 10.8 billion will be directed to the housing sector, at a rate of 35.3%, and the transport sector is allocated to EGP 8.3 billion.
The antiquities sector received EGP 3.96 billion, at a rate of 12.9%, while the higher education sector received investments of EGP 3.3 billion.
The announcement indicated that EGP 700 million were addressed to the youth and sports sector by 2.3%, in addition to directing EGP 4 billion to other sectors.
It also stated that the most important development targets in the housing sector and the development of informal settlements in Giza Governorate in the 2021/20 Plan are to direct about EGP 3.9 billion for drinking water and sanitation services.
For higher education sector, the most important projects of the plan are to complete the Zewail City of Science and Technology and completing the project of establishing the University of Technology in 6th of October City.
The announcement referred to the development of the archaeological sites that includes the completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum, as the project aims to establish a global cultural center to get acquainted with the Egyptian civilization while documenting and preserving the museum’s holdings.
The listed appropriations for 2021/2021 for this project are EGP 2.9 billion. The number of artifacts targeted for transfer to the museum in the plan is 3000 artifacts.
The “Citizen's Plan” includes a detailed presentation of all development indicators and projects that are being implemented in each governorate separately, to enable the citizen to follow up on the implementation of these projects, whether they are being implemented in their governorate, city or village.
