NIGSD’s Executive Director meets with an Iraqi government delegation to discuss governance and sustainable development

Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National NIGSD for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), received recently an Iraqi government delegation of officials from the Ministries of Planning, Finance, Labor, and Social Affairs in the State of Iraq headed by Dr. Maher Hammad Allam Johan, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Planning.
The meeting sought to enhance knowledge and benefit from Egyptian experiences in the field of governance and sustainable development. The delegation's visit to Egypt will take place from February 1-5.
During the meeting, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif reviewed NIGSD’s role as a training arm for the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, its strategy, and what it will offer during the coming period, and NIGSD’s methodology, which is represented in "Governance for Sustainable Development".
El-Sherif also addressed the discussion about the weekly series of awareness sessions that NIGSD provides on governance and sustainable development, and the delegation expressed its desire to participate in these sessions and benefit from them.
El-Sherif referred to the scientific journal that NIGSD is currently implementing entitled "Governance for sustainable development."
On the training methodology at the NIGSD, Dr. Sherifa Sherif explained that the methodology depends on knowing the needs of the organization, with assessing before and after training to measure the training effect on the employee after returning to work.
El-Sherif indicated that the NIGSD has established a group of international partnerships with the most prestigious regional and international institutions and universities to provide distinguished training services.
El-Sherif also pointed out that the NIGSD has trained about 31,000 trainees during the past two years. The meeting also dealt with reviewing the nature of the work of the educational platforms of the NIGSD at the level of Egypt and Africa.
About the Citizen Charter, El-Sherif indicated that it is prepared in community partnership between the various sectors, where there are working and listening sessions with representatives of the private sector and civil society.
“Four workshops have been held and there are still two workshops - remotely - for preparing and drafting the Citizen Charter,” El-Sherif said.
She also pointed out to the Code of Occupational Conduct in which the same participatory approach was followed in its preparation and drafting."
The Iraqi delegation expressed its interest in the "Development Ambassadors" initiative launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with NIGSD to spread the culture of sustainable development and build national capabilities in this field through a series of training for young people from 18-35 years old.
During the meeting, El-Sherif reviewed reports of Egypt's position in the indicators of competitiveness, governance, and sustainable development and the progress achieved by Egypt in several centers in those indicators.
