30 January 2021
The Ministerial Committee for the Development and
Re-exploitation of the Tahrir Complex, which includes the Ministry of Housing,
the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in addition to the Ministry of
Planning and Economic Development, held a meeting chaired by Dr. Hala El-Said,
Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Chairperson of the Board of
Directors of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt(TSFE), a meeting via video conference
technology to discuss the latest developments in the project
During the meeting, the proposed time plan for the
development of the Tahrir complex and the implementation steps were reviewed
according to the studies conducted by some international consulting offices to
develop perceptions of the best-proposed uses.
The evacuation plan for the Tahrir Complex building was also
reviewed in coordination with the Cairo Governorate and the ministries and
agencies that used to operate the complex, which numbered about 27 entities,
with an emphasis on the need to quickly evacuate the building and prepare it to
receive investors and developers who will participate in the implementation of
the development plans.
Dr. Hala El-Said confirmed that TSFE plans to transform the
Tahrir complex into a role model in the process of re-exploitation of assets,
maximizing the returns from them, and ensuring the rights of future generations.
El-Said indicated
that the ownership of the Tahrir complex was transferred to TSFE during the
last quarter of 2020, and last October.
“Many Egyptian and foreign investors were invited to review
the ideas put forward to develop the complex,” El-Said explained.
In response to the invitation, a large number of specialized
companies interacted and expressed interest in participating in the development
of the complex, and the finalization of the concept of the brochure of
conditions that will be presented to investors to choose who will participate
in the development process of the complex during the first half of this year is
underway.
