Egypt’s NIGSD signs a protocol for preparing a professional diploma in the fields of governance

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation with the Egyptian Center for Global Governance and Development in the areas of governance and sustainable development.
The (MoU) was signed by Dr. Sharifa El-Sharif, Executive Director of NIGSD, and Dr. Faqa Al-Rifai, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees.
Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of NIGSD indicated the importance of governance in increasing confidence in the national economy, deepening the role of the money market, and increasing its ability to mobilize savings, raise investment rates, and preserve the rights of the minority or small investors.El-Said added that governance encourages the growth of the private sector and supports its competitiveness, thus creating decent job opportunities. It also contributes to fighting corruption and the emergence of a capable and effective public sector that provides community service and provides high rates of growth.On the signed MoU, El-Said explained that it comes from a full awareness of the importance of cooperation between think tanks concerned with governance affairs and supporting public policy-making processes based on the foundations of wise leadership.El-Said noted the importance of the role that NIGSD plays in monitoring and following up the evaluation of Egypt's indicators in governance, competitiveness, sustainable regional and international development.About the areas of cooperation between the two parties under the Memorandum of Understanding, Dr. Sharifa El-Sherif explained that it consists of preparing and implementing packages of training programs, in addition to designing and implementing an advanced professional diploma in the field of governance and its applications as well as cooperation in providing training related to governance applications that the NIGSD implements. The areas of cooperation between the two parties under the signed MoU include organizing joint scientific activities (seminars, workshops, local and international conferences) on issues related to governance and sustainable development, in addition to exchanging views on advisory services and conducting joint research and studies in the areas of governance and sustainable development.El-Sherif added that to ensure the activation of the areas of cooperation, the two parties will exchange visits of delegations between the two parties, to acquaint each party with the experiences and experiences of the other in the fields of research and drafting, ways to benefit from them and to facilitate their employment methods.Also, the two parties will exchange researchers and experts to carry out research activities to be agreed upon later, in addition to exchanging information, publications, research materials, scientific publications, and electronic software.
