Egypt’s NIGSD launches a training program entitled "E-Governance in Public Administration" in Portugal

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - launched its "E-Governance in Public Administration" training program in Portugal, which will last until November 25, 2022. The program targets 26 trainees from the leaders of the state's administrative apparatus, representing 16 different government agencies.During the opening, Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, praised the efforts made in launching the first batch of the training program, implemented in partnership with the United Nations University (UN University) within the framework of the MoU signed recently with NIGSD.Sherif explained that the institute offers, through this memorandum, a fully funded scholarship for the program, which launches the second phase of the cohort established last year.Sherif explained that about 130 government employees were trained in the first batch on various topics in the field of digitization and responsible governance.Sherif emphasized that programs are a cornerstone of the government's effort to embrace digital transformation. She added that they have a comprehensive overview of the issue of digitization. In addition, they have digitalization and innovation. Moreover, they offer the processes and strategies needed by public officials in planning, designing, and evaluating information systems.The Executive Director of NIGSD stated that in light of Egypt's Vision 2030 and the main milestones it represents in the comprehensive development process in Egypt, and reforms in various fields, the development of the human factor has become an integral part of the reform and construction process, believing in the pivotal role assigned to workers in the country to implement these reforms.Dr. Sharifa Sherif indicated that the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development undertakes the task of change, explaining that the institute adopts a more innovative approach to development and service provision, intends to become a regional center of knowledge and has an effective role in implementing national strategies, foremost of which is the sustainable development strategy: Egypt's Vision 2030.Dr. Sharifa Sharif also explained that NIGSD relies on the approach of building partnerships with relevant local and international bodies to expand its circle of expertise. This approach allows it to benefit from prestigious scientific institutions, such as the United Nations University. These institutions have made remarkable strides in the areas of training, capacity building, education, research, and consultancy.
