Main / Media / News / Minister of Transport Says Egypt is following a comprehensive plan to develop all Egyptian ports

26 October 2022

Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Egypt's Minister of Transport, reviewed on Wednesday the most important and prominent infrastructure projects carried out by the Ministry of Transport in various transport sectors.

This came during the session held under the title "Egypt is a Logistics Center" as part of the 50th anniversary of UAE-Egypt ties.

Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir confirmed that all Egyptian ports are being developed in the implementation of the political leadership's directives to make Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
Kamel Al-Wazir stressed that Egypt will never sell its ports, but is working on developing them and partnering with the private sector and international operators in the field of management and operation.
The minister added that Egypt possesses specialized national Egyptian consultants and companies that have great experience in establishing seaports.

It also owns professional and qualified labor, inviting all investors to invest in Egyptian ports such as Berenice Port, Sokhna, Port Tawfik, Adabiya, Alexandria Great Port, and Jarjoub Port.
He pointed out that Egypt is a large country, with 3000 km of beaches and 18 commercial ports, and that there is a comprehensive plan for the optimal exploitation of these advantages.

The minister added that Egypt is establishing a network of dry ports and logistic areas linked to seaports with multiple means of transportation to increase circulation in the ports.
The minister indicated that in the implementation of the directives of the political leadership, a comprehensive plan was drawn up in the field of roads and bridges, which included the construction of new roads, reaching a length of 7,000 kilometers, serving a very large group of citizens.

The minister sent a message to the Egyptian and Arab investors, especially the Emirati, saying, "You are not guests. You are the people and owners of a country."

Kamel Al-Wazir pointed out that there are many projects during which cooperation with Arab brothers can be done, not only in the field of maritime transport and logistics but in various transport sectors.
