Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development heads to Washington to participate in the 2022 IMF-WBG Annual Meetings

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, left for Washington to participate in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) and the events scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the meetings, in Washington, USA.
The agenda of the visit of Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, includes participation in the dialogue held by the Atlantic Council on opportunities and challenges for the Egyptian economy until 2023 and beyond, which will be held on 12-13 October 2022.
This comes as part of a series of dialogues at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The series of dialogues will bring together economy and finance ministers from around the world to discuss their economic forecasts for 2023.
El-Said will shed light on Egypt's role as the first Arab African country to host the "Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change 2022" (COP27), as well as review Egypt's great potential in the new and renewable energy sector.
It also includes the participation of the Minister of Planning and Economic Development in a meeting with the governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), who are participating in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, on October 15th.
The event will include interventions by the Bank's governors and leading international economists, including the CEO of BlackRock Investments and Asset Management, under the title "Macroeconomics in a Less Globalized World".
El-Said is scheduled to meet with some officials of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Moreover, El-Said will meet with Ivana Vladkova Holar, head of the IMF mission in Egypt, to discuss structural reforms and the reform agenda within the framework of the International Monetary Fund program, with the participation of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The meetings of Dr. Hala El-Said also include a meeting with the Statistics Department of the International Monetary Fund to discuss cooperation concerning GDP reviews, with the participation of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Egypt.
The agenda of the minister's meetings also include participating in a meeting to discuss a proposal to establish a jointly financed endowment fund with the Islamic Bank, the proceeds of which will be used to finance development projects with social returns in Egypt and some member countries of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
