Planning Ministry participates in the preparatory ministerial meeting for Cop27

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by the Sustainable Development Unit, participated recently in the preparatory ministerial meeting for Cop 27 which was held in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa.
This meeting came within the framework of preparations for Egypt's hosting of the CoP27 Climate Change Conference, in Sharm El Sheikh, next November.
The meeting witnessed the organization of some consultative sessions between delegations of member states on several pillars expected to be addressed during the Conference of the States Parties in Sharm el-Sheikh, on top of which are the issues of adaptation, reducing emissions, losses and damages, and climate financing.
The delegation of the Ministry of Planning also participated in the side event organized by the Congolese side for the concerned countries and partners to present their initiatives in the field of facing the consequences of climate change.
The representatives of the unit gave a presentation on the initiative "Decent Lives for a Resilient Africa in the context of climate change", which included referring to the presidential initiative (A Decent Life) in Egypt as a success story in implementing the sustainable development goals and improving the quality of life in rural communities.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the delegation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held bilateral meetings with representatives of several negotiating delegations of African countries to introduce the initiatives that the ministry is coordinating and intends to launch on the sidelines of CoP27.
