A delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development concluded its inspection tour in the village of "Fares" in the Kom Ombo Center, in Aswan Governorate, by visiting the projects being implemented, to follow up on the implementation of green standards in the village, after choosing it as a model for the green village.
This came within the preparations for Egypt's hosting of the United Nations Climate Summit (COP27), to be held next November.

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stated that since the launch of the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, "A Decent Life", more than a year ago.
She further asserted that the Egyptian state has paid special attention to integrating the environmental dimension in development projects.
For his part, Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister for Follow-up to the Sustainable Development Plan, stressed the importance of continuous follow-up to the implementation of green building standards for the implemented and ongoing projects in the village of "Fares", by conducting field visits with the participation of specialists in the field of environmental sustainability from the "ECOnsult" engineering and environmental consultancy, to continuously evaluate the progress made.



The delegation of the Ministry of Planning visited the project to establish the agricultural services complex in the village of “Fares”, which includes (an integrated agricultural association and a veterinary unit), at a cost of about 5.5 million pounds, with a completion rate of 92%, as well as the project to develop the “Fares” preparatory school, which includes 11 classes. 100% completion rate.

The delegation also inspected the project to establish a post office, which is the first green post office in the Republic, to be established following green building standards, for EGP 1.5 million, with a completion rate of 45%, and the project to replace and renew the fire station, at EGP 3.5 million , with a completion rate of 10%.




The delegation of the Ministry of Planning was keen to hold consultative sessions with the residents of the village of "Fares", to listen to their opinions and suggestions regarding the implemented and ongoing projects, and any other projects they deem to be of priority.


 The sessions included a brief review by the ministry delegation of the goals of the "Decent Life" project and the criteria on which "Fares" was selected as a model for the green village.


The delegation of the Ministry of Planning included Ahmed El-Shimmy and Mohamed Sherif El-Hely, coordinator of the "Decent Life" initiative, with the participation of representatives of the "ECOnsult" engineering and environmental consultancy company, and a large number of executive leaders in the governorate of Aswan, the center and the city of Kom Ombo.
