H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development who is also acting as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Institute-of-National-Planning (INP), witnessed the launch of the sixth edition of the Arab Development Report under the title "Arab economic growth in light of crises: the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath".


 This came during the opening of the sixteenth scientific conference of the Arab Society for Economic Research on the topic: "Enhancing the Resilience of Arab Economies in the Face of Crises", which is taking place in the new city of El Alamein from 1-2 October 2022, under the patronage of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Mustafa Madbouly.


The Arab Development Report is one of the most important reports issued by the Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait in cooperation with INP.It (The Arab Development Report) represents a model for cooperation and joint Arab action, as it studies a variety of important and contemporary economic and social issues of great importance to various Arab countries.
In its sixth edition, the report touched on the issue of crises and their impact on countries, focused on the Covid-19 pandemic and its repercussions on Arab countries and their economic growth, and shed light on the financial incentive measures and packages adopted by these countries to address the negative economic and social effects of this pandemic.The report also presented experiences from Arab experiences in crisis management and put forward a set of recommendations for the problem of economic growth in the post-pandemic period, as well as the type of measures and measures needed to stimulate sustainable economic growth that provides the largest number of jobs.


Dr. Hala El-Said stressed the importance of the issue of financing for development and the pivotal role it plays as one of the most important determinants of countries' ability to move forward in implementing sustainable development programs and projects.

El-Said added that in addition to the challenge related to financing development, there are other economic and social challenges of no less importance facing the countries of the region, and all of them require strengthening cooperation mechanisms to find successful solutions and treatments for development issues and challenges in the Arab region.
The Minister of Planning also affirmed Egypt's pride in its constant communication with brothers from Arab countries to exchange visions, ideas, experiences, and successful experiences, especially in light of the Egyptian development experience during the past few years, which was launched in an environment that was not without challenges.

Dr. Badr Othman Malallah, Director General of the Arab Planning Institute, stressed the importance of this publication, which deals with the issue of crises, especially the Covid-19 pandemic, which is one of the most important issues that have, and still, accounted for global public opinion, and which had significant repercussions on economic and social development. Global and Arabic.In turn, Prof. Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of INP indicated that this publication is of particular importance as it deals with the issue of Arab economic growth after the Covid-19 crisis.
It should be noted that the completion of this version of the Arab Development Report, which was prepared by a group of researchers and experts from the two institutes, comes at a time of uncertainty about the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to the possibility that the Russian-Ukrainian crisis will take longer than expected.

 The report touched on the reality and paths of economic growth before the pandemic, to then analyze the economic and social repercussions of this crisis, especially on economic growth, and monitor the sectors and groups most affected and exposed, as well as monitoring opportunities that may represent new engines of economic growth in the future.



On the other hand, the report presented an analytical review of the measures and policies for dealing with the pandemic and its economic repercussions in the Arab countries compared to some global measures and touched on the issue of governance and management of this crisis in various Arab countries, and the rising roles of digitization in dealing with these crises both Arab and global.
