H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, revealed that in just one year, EGP 100 billion was spent on implementing the project’s first phase for 1,500 villages included in the Presidential initiative of Decent Life.


She explained during the meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo (AmCham Egypt), that the initiative aims to improve the quality of life in most rural communities in need, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt’s Vision 2030, by reducing multidimensional poverty and unemployment rates.
The minister indicated that the initiative aims to transform more than 4,500 Egyptian villages into sustainable rural communities.
She confirmed that the initiative had been listed as one of the best international practices for sustainable development goals on the United Nations platforms, because of its positive impact on reducing poverty rates, as well as being the most significant development initiative in the world.
Moreover, El-Said revealed that about the transition to a green economy and preparation for the COP27 Conference of Parties, the Egyptian government is working to accelerate the green recovery. To ensure the effective implementation of the world’s green transition quickly, taking into account the special needs and conditions of the African continent.El-Said indicated that the conference will include 10 days, each day discussing an area of dealing with climate change, and includes multiple events on the sidelines of the summit, pointing to the Solutions Day, which is organized by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.


El-Said also reviewed the efforts made by the Egyptian government regarding the economic reform program, which contributed to macroeconomic stability accompanied by a more favorable business environment, as well as the national structural reform program, with a focus on increasing the productive capacity and competitiveness of the economy in addition to enhancing its resilience.

El-Said pointed to the government’s presentation of a draft document “State Ownership Policy”, which sets out three directions for the state’s participation in sectors and economic activity.
