The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, UNDP director discuss ways of joint cooperation

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development met recently with Mr. Achim Steiner, Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), on the sidelines of her participation in the work of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York.
During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said expressed the country's appreciation for the role of the United Nations Development Program in supporting Egypt's efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, and in preparing the third voluntary national report on sustainable development and the Human Development Report in Egypt 2021.
El-Said reviewed the efforts made by Egypt to achieve sustainable development and promote green recovery, including the modernization of Egypt's Vision 2030, the application of environmental sustainability standards, the launch of green bonds, and the role of The Egypt Sovereign Fund (TSFE) to invest in green fields.El-Said referred to the "Decent Life" initiative as the largest development project aimed at creating sustainable rural communities with the participation of all stakeholders. El-Said explained that the initiative aims to improve the standard of living in the poorest rural villages in Egypt by reducing poverty and unemployment rates and improving the general quality of life for citizens.On the national project for the development of the Egyptian family; El-Said explained that he seeks to improve the quality of life of the citizen by controlling population growth, and by protecting the characteristics of the population.The project’s work includes several pillars, including economic empowerment, service intervention, cultural, awareness and educational intervention, digital transformation, and legislative intervention.
The Minister of Planning also reviewed the national structural reforms program, which is based on several pillars, the most important of which is enhancing the flexibility and effectiveness of labor theft by giving priority to advanced technical education and vocational training.
For his part, the Director of the United Nations Development Program praised Egypt's efforts to improve the lives of citizens, especially with regard to the national project for the development of the Egyptian family.
The two parties also discussed during the meeting; Preparations for Egypt's hosting of the COP 27 climate conference next November in Sharm El Sheikh, and the ministry's efforts regarding the "Solutions Day", which aims to exchange experiences and best practices and discuss possible solutions to a wide range of climate change challenges.
The two parties also discussed opportunities for cooperation regarding smart green projects.
