NIGSD concludes training activities for the 2nd of the “Be an Ambassador” initiative in 2022

Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, the training arm of the Ministry, concluded the training activities for the second batch of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative, which was launched in mid-July.
Dr. Hala El-Said referred to the inclusion of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative for sustainable development through the "Initiatives to Accelerate the Achieving Sustainable Development Goals" platform of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), which represents a great success for the initiative.
El-Said explained that the "Be an Ambassador" initiative aims to build national capacities for young people from 18 to 35 years of age in the field of sustainable development through a series of training courses for various sectors in cooperation with various stakeholders.
Dr. Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, explained that the "Be an Ambassador" initiative was launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with NIGSD in 2020, to spread the thought and culture of sustainable development among young people.
The first batch of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative has been graduated, which included about 700 young men and women representing all the governorates of Egypt, some of whom are currently training with the "Climate Ambassadors" initiative in preparation for Egypt's hosting of the COP 27 climate conference, next November.
Sherif added that the number of participants in the second batch amounted to 1,337 trainees, including 498 males, 839 females, and 10 people with determination.
On her part, Dr. Dina Talaat, Director of the Career Path Unit at the Institute, said that the “Be an Ambassador” initiative is a full-fledged journey in which the trainee moves from the introductory level, which learns basic skills, to the specialized level, which develops a deep understanding of the goals of sustainable development.
It is noteworthy that the training in the second batch lasted for ten continuous working weeks, and the training week included workshops and training lectures with experts and specialists in various fields of sustainable development, in addition to training lectures on qualifying the trainers' TOT.
