To be held on Tuesday; The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to hold a community dialogue on the Citizen Charter and its importance in the continuous improvement in the quality of services provided to citizens – online via Zoom.

 

The Citizen Charter will tackle ways to improve the quality of services in both the private sector and the government sector so that these services effectively meet the needs and desire of citizens the recipient of the service without discrimination.

 

 

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Chairman of NIGSD’s Board of Trustees said that the community dialogue comes within efforts to implement transparency and accountability standards, as well as supporting monitoring, follow-up, evaluation, and data availability systems.

 

 The minister also indicated that the dialogue aims to strengthening partnerships between all development partners, enhancing accountability and the rule of law. 

 

 

 “In what ultimately aims to raise the efficiency of services provided to citizens within the goals of Egypt Vision 2030.”

 

 

For her part, Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director NIGSD, indicated that the Citizen Charter is a pledge issued by the service provider towards its customers to provide services according to agreed-upon quality standards. “To hold the service provider accountable, stressing that the importance of the Citizen Charter is evident in that it is a tool to facilitate the provision of services to citizens through specific standards and timeframes, with specific obligations from the government agency providing the service to its customers,” she explained.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development added that any sector in the country can participate in the community dialogue. It will be held throughout five dialogue sessions with a group of experts representing civil society, the private sector, supervisory authorities, civil servants, and academics.

 

 

It is worth noting that it is expected that the community dialogue will produce a general and enforceable document for the Citizen Charter that facilitates its implementation, follow-up, and updating of stakeholders.

 

 

A community dialogue on “Citizen Charter” will be held online via Zoom at 12:00 pm, to participate via the link.
