Planning Ministry delegation visits Fayoum to follow up on FY 2020/21 plan development projects
06 January 2021
A Ministry of Planning and Economic Development
delegation has visited Fayoum Governorate, as part of its follow up on
governorate-wide development projects supported by the fiscal year (FY) 2020/21
investment plan.
The visit comes as part of the Ministry's efforts to
strengthen follow-up field visits to review projects that fall under the
nationwide FY 2020/21 plan, and to assess what has been accomplished so far.
Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala
El-Said noted the importance of localising sustainable development goals in the
governorates, noting that this is an issue that the state pays great attention
to.
The minister said that the Egyptian government intends
to maximise the benefits of the country’s comparative advantages. This also
aims to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth and balanced regional
development, as one of the main pillars of Egypt's Vision 2030.
El-Said added that the medium-term sustainable
development plan attaches great importance to spatial justice in health,
education, and the use of economic and other resources.
This will contribute to achieving comprehensive and
balanced nationwide development, and forms a central goal around which economic
and social development plans revolve.
The delegation’s visit included field trips to several
projects underway as part of the FY 2020/21 plan, as well as the projects under
the Economic Housing Fund. The projects are located in Bandar Al-Fayoum, as
well as in the villages and city centres of Abshway, Senouras, and Tamiya.
This came alongside a visit to the project completing
the model licence building for the Traffic Department in Bandar Al-Fayoum. The
total cost of the project stands at about EGP 16.450m, and is expected to be
completed in February 2021.
The visit also included follow up on the completion of
the economic housing project in Tamiya city, where three residential buildings
have been constructed. A total of 66 apartments divided between social and
administrative housing, as well as commercial shops, make up the project, which
received EGP 14m in funding.
The delegation reviewed the Fayoum Governorate’s
projects to pave roads, including the paving of the cemetery road in Abshway at
a cost of about EGP 2.5m, and whose completion is expected in March.
During the visit, El-Said met with Fayoum Governor
Ahmed Al-Ansari and Heba Mugheib, Head of the Ministry of Planning and Economic
Development’s Regional Planning Sector, and their accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the rates of project
implementation work under the FY 2020/21 plan were reviewed and discussed. The
projects are set to receive investments of about EGP 491.5m, which will go
towards paving roads, improving the electricity network, strengthening local
units, and improving the environment.
