Ministry of Planning reviews features of Citizen Investment Plan in Dakahlia for FY 2020/21

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the features of the Citizen Investment Plan in Dakahlia Governorate for the fiscal year 2020/21, as part of the continuation of announcing the Citizen Investment Plan in all governorates of the republic for the second year in a row, with the aim of activating community participation and involving citizens in planning and follow-up.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the Citizen Investment Plan is a document aimed primarily at citizens to ensure their integration in the planning and follow-up processes, as it includes a detailed presentation of all development indicators and projects being implemented in each governorate separately, so that citizens can follow up on the implementation these projects, whether they are being implemented in his governorate, city or village.
El-Said added that the Citizen Investment Plan also includes the most prominent features of the sustainable development plan for fiscal year 2020/21 at the national level and the most important economic indicators for each governorate, represented in the gross domestic product, the real growth rate, the unemployment rate, and the number of workers, in addition to the value of public investments directed to the governorate in the 2020/21 plan, its distribution among the various sectors, and the number of projects under implementation in each governorate.
Regarding the Citizen Investment Plan in Dakahlia Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate reaches 389 projects, and that the value of public investments directed to Dakahlia Governorate in the 2020/21 plan is LE 6.7 billion, an increase of 54% over the 2019/20 plan, representing 2.6% of distributed public investments, pointing to a 12% growth rate in investments financed by the public treasury and directed to the governorate.
With regard to the sectoral distribution of public investments targeted in Dakahlia Governorate with the 2021/21 plan, the minister indicated that investments worth LE 2.3 billion will be directed to the housing sector and the development of informal settlements by 34.6%, and the transport sector is allocated investments worth LE 1.2 billion, a rate of 17.8%, and the pre-university education sector is allocated LE 659.7 million, at a rate of 9.8%, in addition to directing LE 1.3 billion to the higher education sector, by 19.6%, as well as directing LE 515.2 million to the local development sector, at a rate of 7.7%, and allocating LE 713.5 million to other sectors, at a rate of 10.6%.
The most important development goals in the housing sector and the development of informal settlements in Dakahlia Governorate in the 2021/21 plan are to direct about LE 1.3 billion for drinking water and sanitation services, while the most important development goals in the pre-university education sector are to establish 153 schools, totaling 2,373 classes.
With regard to the development goals of the higher education sector in the 2020/21 plan in the governorate, the plan aims to establish the new Mansoura University. The project aims to establish a university capable of providing many study programs in the fields of humanities, administrative sciences, media and communication, arts, and engineering sciences. Among them are advanced programs such as artificial intelligence sciences, digital architecture, and integrative medicine and surgery. The funds listed for the project in the 2020/21 plan are estimated at LE 500 million.
